Rickenbacker 4001 Bass VI project conversion

Someone's messed up 4001 bought as a project, converted to a Bass VI

I think it looks cool, apparently wasn't done very well though (truss rod doesn't hold up to EADGBE too well so the neck is bowed to fuck and unplayable).

Looks awesome; is that still the original 33 1/4" scale? That could be part of the neck problem...

Wow, that actually looks way cooler than I thought it would. I don't know about the longer neck being the issue unless they just threw a standard set of baritone strings on it...you would think going a little bit lighter would be fine.

The additional 2 strings would be the major problem for the neck, more than scale length, but scale may be an influence there as well; angular moment and all that jazz (longer the arm, the more torque for the same applied force and all that good stuff).

Would love to get my hands on that thing though.
