I have a chance to get one dirt cheap, just want to know if they're any good before I go for it. I think I noticed one on Stewart's board on saturday.

Do it. It's like an ocd but with much more versatile tone shaping (uses 4 little knobs) that lets you dial in tons of different sounds. It's less bassy than the ocd though. Think i paid £140 for mine, which was painful, but i wouldn't be without it, especially for recording.

I use mine on 90% of our set, any substantial non-fuzz dirt you heard the other night would be that apart from the last song.

I know Stewart's mad about his - DO IT. I'd like to try one too.

The fact that it's less bassy than the OCD will probably be a good thing for me.

I've never found a distortion pedal that I have been totally happy with, i've reverted to a Turbo Rat recently (my third in about 2 years) as they're cheap and sound reasonably good, but I can get one of these new for, and this may make you sick, £50 so am willing to give it a go. If it doesn't work out I reckon I could easily flip it to get my money back.

Fuck, at that price you can't lose.

Edit: i will say i always use mine with some sort of boost onstage, as i like to have a snarly midrange. A transparent od in front of it gives it a bit more spit.

The same place has an Ultimate Octave too for the same price so i'm having that as well. Expect to see a few of my older pedals up in the classifieds soon though as i'll be needing to recoup some cash.

Is it from that website you linked to recently? I remember they were doing the pro for 75 then and i almost choked on my own tears.

Actually I just called them and the fuckers sold them to someone else despite me emailing them earlier and asking them to hold them until I could call. Nevermind, it'll save me some cash.

They've been doing that a lot. You have to call and do it over the phone to be guaranteed anything.

Considering they're giving much of this away practically I'm unsuprised they don't care about upsetting potential customers with their practises, they're clearly going out of business/have stolen all this stuff.

I bet some cockend's just clicked your link and spangled them out from under you.

There obviously aren't enough lawyers who play guitars in Oxford for them to maintain their business selling overpriced boutique equipment that i'm generally not interested in unless it's sold at bargain basement prices. Not that i'm bitter or anything.

Just to echo what Mike said above, they've been doing this for a while now - not updating the site for days or weeks on end. I'd laboured over whether or not to buy a Cornell Plexi, only to discover they'd sold them weeks before. Twats.

I love my DP-1; it's very versatile. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite get as clean as I'd like (though, as I think about it, some guitar volume reduction could clean it up to where I want it), but it has a lot of good drive/distortion. As mentioned, there's a LOT of tone shaping available. It can be a little frustrating at first, because it's so adjustable, but you get the hang of the knobs.

I use it both with guitar and bass, and love it for both.

Old thread I know but i've been looking for one of these for a while and last night I scored one on eBay for £67, i'm pretty sure that was a good price. I sold the Vintage Rat I got recently for £70 on saturday, I swapped that for an old pedal that I had written off so (in my twisted way of thinking) I kind of got this for nothing. These either seem to get loads of love or people don't like them, looking forward to trying it for myself - re-reading this old thread i'm pretty sure i'm going to like it.
