Fender hardshell cases - lefty friendly?

Along with losing my Supersonic, it also means I lost my padded Fender deluxe gig bag, which I had been using for both my Jag and my SS. So I did some browsing at MF, looks like there's a sale going on.
So, I'm trying to determine if I can get a Hardshell case for my Jaguar, and I'm looking at
the normal Jazzmaster case and wondering if it would fit my left Jag. It looks like it would work but I'm not really certain. My next option is getting a lefty Jazz Bass case for it, but that's almost double the cost. Anyone have a normal hardshell Jazzmaster case and know if it would accept a lefty version of the body?

I can only vouch for the tweed covered ones, like you get with an AVRI, but the Jag and JM cases are identical.

Would it fit the lefty version though? It looks like it might because the one side looks like it would be coming down where the lower horn on the lefty would be, but I dunno if the neck would fit right in there.

Ah. Reading comprehension fail on my part. I don't think it would work, because of the placement of the neck support and smuggling compartment.

ARG. Okay, thanks for the clarification.

i just picked up a standard no name case for my jag its nice (i tested it with a jag they had in store, and for kicks i tested it with a let handed jag, becuase i remembered this thread) both fit, really snug, nothing is moving around.
sadly i have no idea what the make/model is, but i do know that it was $79

That looks exactly like the one my old Jag came in. "World class cases" or something it said on a little brass badge. Decent.
Fran now has it.

And where did you pick this beauty up at? Most of the "standard" cases I've found are too narrow to fit a Jag. Is it a bass case?

i picked it up from Long & mcquade (
http://www.long-mcquade.com/ )
although i bought it in store and not online. we tried a standard tear drop case first, but it didn't fit. so they went and grabbed me a case from the basement that they thought might work.

its not a bass case, as the jag fits in it perfectly, i don't even think that a jazzmaster would fit due to the fact that it is a shorter case.
although upon inspection it looks like it might.

as compared to my other case.
but it looks like it would work for a left handed jag as well (my folks picked this one up for me last year from a shop in my home town (
http://53rdstreetmusic.ca/) they have never even carried a jag or jazzmaster so i'm confused as to why they had this case

You've been extremely helpful, man. Is there any possible chance to get you to do a few quick measurements on the interior to see if it matches:

??
I would love you long time. That shit is on clearance and I want to also place an order for those super cheap Hendrix strings as well.

top case is length 40 1/2" body area 19 3/8" x 13 1/4"
measured at lower bout
second case is length 39 7/8" body area 19 1/4"x 13 3/8"
measured at lower bout
these are measurements inside the "covered foam"

That's cool, at least now I have dimensions to work with. You are a fucking saint, dude!

FYI the first case is a
Yorkville Rectangular.
Unfortunately I cannot find any other place that sells those fucking things. I just went through pretty much every case MF had and a few might work I'm uneasy ordering without trying.
Damn these things. I might have to take it to a Guitar Center and try a few out.

I'm pretty sure if you can find a Gibson Firebird case, it will fit. I wouldn't do it without taking decent measurements on the dimensions but I've heard of others using it.
Other than that, I have used generic bass cases and they fit plenty snug on the body but they were about 2.5 inches too long . . .

I'm pretty sure
this will work but shipping is an extra $70 so fuck that, I'm going to go to Guitar Center and try them out, and probably buy one there.

yr best bet is probably going to be a local shop and just test them out, because after shipping from anywhere online its gonna be a wash on the price.

Yeah, I think the Roadrunner case will fit it based on the measurements, and GC should have these.
There are really almost no local shops anymore except for those specializing in obscure and vintage stuff, as GC has put them all out of business. I'll just have to go up there.
Thanks a million for the info!

yeah it looks like it should work. shitty deal about the local shops closing down. i mean half the shops here in town are "big chain stores" and the other half aren't generally my money goes to the half that aren't, but i don't think any of them have really been effected by online sales/sites the way that shops in the states or even van/toronto/montreal have due to the cost of shipping stuff to here.
