So I decided to refinish a couple basses that I had lying around. One was a beat to hell old Ibanez Roadstar II that I bought at a thrift store for $20. The other was an OLP musicman sting ray copy that was smashed and then fell into my possession.
I decided that the Ibanez should be an ivy green, and that the olp should be a sky blue. My girlfriend helped my pick out the colours because the majority of my guitars are white black or sunburst.
The "After" photos aren't so great. Artificial lighting and a not so good camera phone. I'll try to take some better photos in the sunlight. I'm really enjoying these colours, they're totally different than what I've got. The ibanez will have a black pickguard and the olp will have a white pearloid pickguard. I think the finished basses will look pretty good.

Maple neck, duck beak headstock, 4 in line.laterallateral wrote:The Roadstar would look tight with a BWB guard...
Is the neck maple or rosewood? Headstock 4x4?
I would love a bwb pickguard, but the one it came with was white sprayed grey. I was going to spray it black and then see if I can cut off a strip of paint all the way around to reveal the original white. Sounds a bit intense though, so we'll see. The pickguard is definitely going to be black of some sort though.
The bass sorta looked like this (the neck is the same, but the previous owner decided to remove the last 3 frets for some reason.)
