Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone - change "Grit" circu

Anyone ever tried switching up the grit circuit in a Philosopher's Tone pedal? You can blend in the grit to achieve a clean plus dirty doubled signal sound. Unfortunately the grit sound itself is rather plain, dull, and lifeless.
I'm up for modding it. As it is part of a compressor maybe a fuzz/distortion/boost/?/1 knob parameter that plays well with others would be best?
