I've seen "Jazzcasters" like this before, on TDPRI. I think a lot of them are home jobbies, but I think there's some luthier or small company that sells them custom ordered for around $2000 that are relic'd JUST LIKE THIS ONE. I'd take it for $200 whatever if it intonates and plays right.

That looks like a Fender Telemaster that's actually made by Fender and the photos look like the same models being sold on the Make N Music website. Photos got the same background and style of relicing.

http://www.makenmusic.com/product.cfm?p ... 66&catID=1

I doubt it's really for sale for $200, probably a scam.

Well the guy is just down the road from me, so I could go check it out.

ok looked at that link better, yea same guitar, but says not a telemaster. Some sort of kit?

reliced but not the metal bits.

For $200 I would just buy it for a project guitar..gfs pickup and new pots and caps

...its Craigslist so take $160 cash with you and see if you can get it

Wait you confused me, who says it's not a Telemaster?

In the link I posted they can't call it Fender Telemaster anymore because some other company that makes hobby airplanes has a trademarked product called Telemaster. What I posted however is what Fender Custom Shop released and called a Telemaster and is Fender made product from The Fender Custom Shop.

When these came out a bunch of people on forums started copying them or doing their own take and to be honest I saw a few kicking around even before Fender did this, so it is quite possible the guy has a home brew version but that picture he posted is lifted from the website.

So the jc link says it is/ was a fender custom shop guitar. Would there be any special markings on the guitar to indicate this? neck pocket? Lets say the add is legit and it is from a family estate and he does not know what it is other than it says fender.

I have no idea on the markings....I would just go look at it and if it is cheap enough then it may be worth the gamble.....

just depends if you are buying it to play or to try to flip for a profit

it does seem like a scam to me as well or the dude found a stock pic that is similar to what he has...... BUT with Craigslist if the person will talk to you on the phone or will meet you in person, it would only be a scam if it is a chinese made ripoff axe......

So ask questions of him when u talk and see if he really is guitar ignorant and does not know what it is besides a Fender, or if he is playing dumb....this will be most easily done in person..... if you pay attention u can tell a liar

It's a fake. If he's selling it as "something I got from my grandpa" he's doing to make you think it is vintage.

I mean, go see it person but I'm betting if he does have a telemaster guitar it is from guitarfetish with a Fender decal added.
