Saw this on HCFX. Looks like Fender might be doing these in more colours with a standard Telecaster headstock?

That red is HOT.

Fender have such a cool palette of colours and portfolio of guitars at their disposal, and yet still manage to go skew-wiff at the merest opportunity. I hate the trans red finish they stick on all contemporary guitars. And the deluxe needs the big headstock in my (curmudgeonly) opinion.

I like that shade of green but it would be better served on a different guitar or maybe it just needs a darker maple neck to suit it.

Has anyone heard of a Fender colour/finish called crimsonburst? My strat has this finish, it's kind of a red sunburst which goes from a darkish/sparkly red to a semi-transparant red, but i've never seen another Fender guitar with it.

i think they look a bit anaemic in those colours, I normally love surf green but it seems wrong on a tele

As much as I do love those guitars, one of the coolest things aesthetically was the big head stock.

Also, people complain so much about Fender only making guitars that come in Sunburst and Black, then when they put different colors on them they complain about those.

It wouldn't be worth complaining about if it wasn't very rarely done and on poorly matched guitars.

I think they had it right with the road worn series.

Road Worns are a great idea but I felt really silly holding and playing a Strat a year or so ago.

Heck yes it did!

I'm just a bit of a snob about distressed merchandise.

I owuldnt be surprised if those colors looked a lot better IRL. flourescent lighting and shitbox digital photography never did anyone any favors.

Also, I would prefer the big headstock, too. But if the neck itself felt as good as the normal deluxes, it owuldnt be a huge loss.

i'll take it back then

i just think the appeal of the deluxe tele is its dark brooding self. it reminds of someone smoking a cig standing far enough down an alleyway your con't make out their face but you just know that they are trouble.

I'm betting the neck is completely different. These look like they have a tradition tele neck opposed to the strat neck that was on the deluxe.

I fear you are correct. Oh well. At least there are plenty of used deluxes out there for under $600.

Not too long ago there was a tele deluxe on my craigslist for $350.

Still disappointed I didn't have the money for it :(
