has anyone got any experience of the Gretsch Junior Jet II? I've an itch to scratch with guitars and wondered if anyone had any experience of these?

Solid mahogany body; bolt-on maple neck; Rosewood fingerboard, dot inlays; 24.6" scale; 2 x Gretsch mini-humbucking pickups; volume, tone, 3-position toggle; chrome hardware; tobacco sunburst or black transparent finish

Not tried them but i nearly bought the one pickup version not too long ago.
I like the idea of a TV Jones, wrapover bridge and no frills design. Even if that meant upgrading the pup, TV Jones i have'nt tried and always wanted to. If it had been set neck i think i would have gone for it.

My friend had one for 3 years or so before he sold it. It was his first guitar. It wasn't great, to tell you the truth. A pickup change would do it good but I didn't like the neck really. Also it smelled weird.

my first guitar also. looked nice, played and sounded average. i got rid of it at the earliest opportunity.

it's probably equivalent to a squier (not CV, just bog standard).

thanks guys, I thought it looked a bit funky and with the epi les paul going I was considering how to replace it.

to be honest, it wasn't that bad a guitar, for £200 it was solid enough, and they look good. a pickup change would probably work wonders.

the itch is just replacing the guitar i'm selling. I was even looking at strats and I've never enjoyed playing a strat. GAS basically I guess

thanks stewart & cobasics, maybe its worth trying to sniff one out for a try or look at the Duo Jets or the Electromatic Corvette's as well.

as far as i know the electromatics are a step up, and corvettes are pretty darn cool...

I've tried it . Na. Looks good in the catalogs and online but playing it is like a low end Epi LP with shitty pickups . A project guitar ? Cool . TV Jones ? A set of pickups are as much as the guitar new . Might be better off getting together some more coin and doing the shibang on a Korean ( or are they Chinese now ? ) Pro Jet . Just a much better guitar . Fixed bridge is best.
