Anyone messed with one of these yet? They seem pretty sweet, but I'm just not sure I can see a lot of practicality for me personally.

I got it, its great little shit. EHX are so innovative, not thats it is rocket science, but its simplicity can be so useful if you use it an a mart way

I got one right away, loved it, it broke. Returned said broken unit and spent my credit on drum heads. I hsould be buying a cathedral tomorrow, which has the same feature, kind of.

The hold function just kept on resampling, would never turn off. The "slow" setting worked liek the hold setting.

They are selling like hotcakes. My local store has sold out numerous times.
Seems like a pretty useful effect really.

What are the cost on these? It's a feature I'd want built into another pedal, but I can't imagine using a spot on my board JUST for this effect.

I haven't seen them anywhere for a price lower than $118.50 USD. I bought one and liked it, but I ultimately returned it because I figured the money was better spent on the Sonuus G2M instead; it was.

Does the Sonuus work well? It would sort of negate those midi output things they put on some guitars, eh?

It wouldnt give you individual string control like the Roland GKs, if they're what you mean. They use a special pickup unit with transducers for each string.

Bear with me, dudes. I'm working on a write-up of the Sonuus so as not to get my threadjack on here.

I'm really enjoying my freeze, the slow mode really fills out the sound with chimey/droney stuff depending on the notes played

...also love the slow mode to smooth out the obvious turning off of a dirt pedal

I'd really really really like for EHX to bring out a 'freeze deluxe' with a controllable sample time, just needs slightly longer to make some tremendous glitchy sounds

I am very interested in the EHX Freee but I have some reservations.

I think the price point of the Freeze is a bit high. It seems a lot when you could use a 'hold' fuction on a Boss delay for somethimg similiar. Also, the EHX Cathedral Reverb has an 'infinite' feature which could have similar droney applications and the Cathdral is featured packed compared with the Freeze - much better bang for buck.

For a pedal that requires you to keep stomping the footswitch for its application, I have concerns about how long that EHX footswitch would last.

It claims that delay hold functions cannot get a smooth transition, so you hear the loop repeating, etc. I think it should be $99.

Looks like breaking shortly after buying is standard issue with these.
I remember user Fiveways of this parish telling me one of his Freezes had broken just before seeing him manage a one Freeze set, a few weeks ago.

Don't worry, it has a warranty! I'd be more worried about the software going wonky, like mine did.

hope to get a Freeze soon. before the year is out. couple of other pedals i need to buy 1st though, including the Cathedral which i really really really need.

I'm not talking about ordinary delays settings. The 'hold' function on my Boss DD6 can do a "mmmmmmmmm" - at least mine does when I use it a certain way. Maybe you have faulty one or should adjust your technique?

The 'hold' function may not be as good or easy as the Freeze to go "mmmmmmm", but I maintain the Freeze is overpriced for was it does - which is one thing only but well.

Not so - at least in UK. From arguably the best EHX retailer in the UK, the Freeze costs £95; whereas the Cathedral reverb (with infinite button and loads of modes) costs £135. Thus it is less than 50% more, and not "almost twice as much".

The Cathedral is the dog's bollocks. The infinite mode holds on the reverb, then what you play over the top is completely dry, which is either good or bad, depending on how you look at it/what you want. Washy reverb > infinite > DRY?!

Really dig the sound of the Cathedral, I left my guitar leaning on my amp feeding back with everything maxed while I studied the first day I got it.
