I really like the solo sound the guitar player gets on this song (0:52), i get a similar one with my super fuzz, but not that close. Any clue how to get there?

I am dying to know this as well. I have listened to 'The Monitor' album by this band once a day for the past two weeks. Easily the best band of the past 5 years. They are INCREDIBLE. Great lead guitar lines, too. Love em!

sounds like a dialed back fuzz face. methinks it would be a pretty easy sound to emulate with any bit of fuzz.

I like how every song turns into 3 minutes of quasi-solos without coming off as a big wank fest...

I mean it. They rock.

Benecol's Big Muff pie clone I loaned from him sounds like that to me... think it was for sale too. Best fuzz I've heard !!

weird, always thought there was some kind of octave up thing going on in that sound. I should mess around with my ect a little more then.

btw, this band is awesome, they remind me of dino jr on speed

I don't want to sound like an arse or anything but some people may get offended with Gary Glitter vids being posted up given his history of convictions for possessing child pornography and for committing obscene acts with minors.

The Titus sound could be achieved by any number of fuzz pedals. It's either a pretty tame fuzz or one that's rolled back. I just tried with a bunch of fuzz pedals I have and can get really close with a bunch of them.

Anyone notice the guitar strap falling off on the sync'd turn at about :55 in the Gary Glitter vid? That sucks. Looks like a pretty heavy guitar too! That fuzz is a little different. Almost seems tame but there is a pretty decent bite to it. Could be due to some octave up effect like previously mentioned. Might be an octave fuzz or multiple pedals on that one. Maybe Kazoo's mixed in?

I don't know how to ask about the guitar sound in that specific "live" recording without somehow involving Gary Glitter. Should I include a disclaimer or use spoil tags? Would linking to the video be better than posting the video itself?

i didn't even know he was a repeat pedo until i wikipedia'd him. even if i'd had my privates touched, i dunno how offended i'd be about such a menial coincidence.

I just managed to get the sound from that Gary Glitter song. It seems to work with any overdrive or mild distortion on the bridge pickup, I think it's more to do with how you actually play it. To get that 'elastic'y kind of sound I played a lot of the notes one fret down, bending the string a lot to get the right note. It also seems to help if you kind of half-do a pinch harmonic on everything.

sounds to me like it's got some bit of phase on it. something that is adding modulation with some chub to keep it warm and not hard on the ears.

Hmm, maybe chorus or something?

I wasn't having a go at you, I can understand your purpose for posting that vid and i'm ok with it - however I was just merely pointing out that some people may be offended by it.
