Shortscale necks vs. Blueshawk neck

I've gotten used to shortscale necks by makin a Mustang and a Duo-Sonic my main players over the past two years. I'm thinking of getting a Gibson Blueshawk so I can stretch out a bit on the fretboard...of course I like the tonal options also.

I understand the Blueshawk neck is full scale length but a bit more narrow than most full scale necks.

Anyone experienced enough with Blueshawks to help me compare that neck with shortscale necks?

It has been a long time since I had one but from memory it was a fairly narrow neck. Of course I prefer baseball bat tele necks over anything so alot of necks feel small to me.

I have a nighthawk that uses the same neck. I personally don't find it too narrow, I actually like everything about it except the longer scale length.

I got inconsistent info from two websites. You might could resolve this. One says the Blueshawk/Nighthawk neck is 1 5/8" at the nut; another site says it's 1.7".

I'm out of town, without my Mustang and Duo-Sonic, so I can't measure their nut width right now but I believe it's 1 1/2".

Cheers,

I am guessing that the 1.7" is a rounded number since 15/8 is 1.63" and someone rouded up or measured/converted roughly...

Thanks, Mickie, bet you're right on that...someone rounded the number.

Since my last post,. I bought two BluesHawks. An Ebony and a Cherry. Took me a few hours to get used to the more narrow neck...especially playing lead...but the necks are fine and these are solid guitars.

Next, a Chicago Blue one... :D
