fender jazzjag Bass 5 project

Post by light rail coyote »

So my girlfriend and I joined a band together, and she plays bass. She has to tune it WAY down for the songs, and it just didn't work on he musicmaster bass, so I built her this. Finished it at work between giving guitar lessons an hour before our show that night. At the show I wanted to fuck with the asshole singer dude, so we planned some noise freakouts and didn't tell him. On the last song I'm fucking shit up and I look over at her and shes jumping up and down on it, haha rad. heres some pics from the show.

the singer has a friend who's a professional photographer that took the pics, if you want to see more pics and have facebook check out here

oops, somehow I accidently deleted the guitar details.
So its a tracing of a jazzmaster body, just widened at the neck pocket with a jaguar pickguard setup. An american j bass 5 pickup. It will have Seymour Duncan music man pickup in the neck eventually, and a better cut pickguard, but still a record one. The body is Poplar, and will prabably be cream in the end. I'm going to drill some big holes under the bridge and fill them with molten lead to make it have a perfect balance and not be headstock heavy, though it's not too bad as is.

I'll get some better closeups as it progresses and I find my camera. But it plays so amazing as is. I love it.

carefully. haha
I made a template for it, and then used a router. For the real one I may try backing the record with fiberglass and resin before I cut it to make it thicker and stronger. then I can cut the edges at an angle like a rell pickguard
