I've been planning a couple of projects for a while now.
Anyway, found these printouts for Telecaster DeLuxe and Stratocaster.

The printouts were fucking HUGE!

Glued them to a piece of MDF and cut them out.

Next step is to sand them down to prefection.
I bought this kit to help me.

Keep posting on these projects :)

I have an oscillating spindle sander that I love for that kind of work. Are you using a drill press with your sanding bits?

I would love a copy of that Tele Deluxe. That's how I made my Tele, Mustang, Jazzmaster and Super-Sonic templates.

We really need to make a Shortscale project repository of guitar schematics that we can all download from.

Could we just start a thread and have everyone post links? or should we have one person host the files?

It has been a long time, but as I have little/no money progress has been VERY slow.
A couple of days ago, I bought a HUGE peice of 18mm MDF.
Randomly a 4'x8' piece was 30 pence CHEAPER than 2'x4', obvoiusly I got the larger piece in 18mm thick.

I'm making working templates for Strat, Telecaster and Telecaster DeLuxe.
There will be multiple templates per guitar. Minimum 1 for outline and another for neck pocket and pickup routes, possibly another for different depths of route. Like a strat has different depths for pickup and control cavities, so might do a third template for the deeper control route.

I will be making a Tele DeLuxe with Strat trem, this will be natural mahogany with a black pickguard.

The other guitar have semi-concrete plans for is a 'normal' telecaster.
I have 2 pickguards (red pearl and black), hardware, pots, switches, etc... and some fooking ace telecaster pickups (the BEST sounding I have ever played!)

Sorry about the lack of pictures. I'm on the saw tonight, should be on the router very soon.
I'll have pics when I have some proper templates done. Promise!

Made a little progress today. And some positive steps toward some 'working' templates.
Oh, and ignore the shit I've scrawled on the MDF, I have a terrible memory!

First outline done.

Second, destined to be the pickup/ neck cavity template, which should explain the funny shape.
Image

The first template again. I cut out the control route in here because it is alot deeper than the pickup route.
It makes sense to me to use a seperate template for this anyway.

Neck pocket area cut.

Oh, if some kind soul could help me out with some measurements.
I just want to check if the dimensions on these pics are anything like those of actual Strat trem cavities.

The hole in the front of the body.

And the hole in the back where the springs live.

I should really get stuck into the telecaster templates too, I'll post progress on them too.

Strat templates done, for now.
Since I don't plan on making a strat with a trem any time soon I'm not too worried about them trem routes.
Image

*Edit* I think them almost look like the kind of thing you could buy.

On to the telecasters now.

Right, I'm onto the Telecasters.
Same kinda thing as with the Strat templates, there will be Telecaster and Telecaster DeLuxe.

The trem routes on my Squier Strat are about the same as what you've got there. I bought one of those Hipshot wooden blocks for filling trem routes and it was too small, but it says "intended for USA guitars" so I don't know if the USA Fenders have smaller routes :?:

Thank you!
The blueprints claim to be 'American standard'.
I'll worry about the trem cavity when I've bought the trem (to go in the Tele DeLuxe I'm planning)

I got stuck in today, and got them finished!

Telecaster.

And Tele DeLuxe

Don't know how long I'll need to wait to get these done, but will probably be a couple of months.

Got some more printouts for Fender Jaguar and Gibson Firebird (no pics of that yet).
I'm not that impressed with the Jag printout, but with a little ingenuity I can make it work.
The outline good, but the routes are dog shit!
Image

So I'll combine the outline with this (stitched together from A4 printouts from my home PC)
Image

I'm also planning on making a Jazzmaster template using these
Image
Image

While I'm doing that, I thought I would use that idea for a mustang template, filling in the gaps in the outline by drawing around my Bronco.
Image

I'm also making templates from my Jagstang abd Epiphone ET-270.

Where did you find Jagstang pdf?

I'm gonna be making a supersonic, mustang, jaguar, jazzmaster, morsite... in a few days too... to bad we all don't live around each other, we could split up the work.

Sorry, haven't got a Jagstang PDF, just a Jagstang, a pencil and some paper.

Is there a way to scan stuff and email it... while it still staying in "scale". I know how PDF works... just don't know about scanners.
