Just got a shure SM57. Took the cap off. Green wire isnt connected. Dont have soldering. Bought from
ebay.

How much do they charge for this kind of stuff.

Solder is like $4 for a little spool. An iron can go from $8 to $80 but mayhaps it'd be better if you found someone a little more experienced. It would suck to ruin the mic.

Fuck up the buyer? Give him 0 feedback, which you can't do because eBay is retarded, but still. I assume you let him know?

Though, it is an easy fix. You don't have a friend with an iron? You could get an iron and solder for under $20

Unless you got the mic super cheap; return it.


If you mess it up, you're out the money but if you just tell him that it doesn't work, then it is on him to give your money back or at least throw some cash back your way for the inconvenience.

I contacted him immidiately telling him about it. See how that goes.

If its simple to do, then why not. I know some people around who solder and stuff.
If all it is is solder it to the spot. Im down for it.

The fact of the matter, is that if you paid for working gear and you received it not working; you should return it. Chances are if something breaks on it, something else is likely to break as well. No point in taking that risk if you don't have to.
