I'm GAS-ing (Warning: Schecter Bass content)

For this particular beauty:

It's under $310 for a black one of these offa Musician's Friend.

Now, I've made some mistakes buying stuff recently (the ripper copy and a Jazz Bass that has a warped neck) but I truly think if I sold both of those and bought this I'd be set for a good long while. Schecter makeks a decent bass, and with the classic styling and coil split-able H pickup in the bridge, I think this could be a winner. If only some shop around me had one to play. This one seems like a solid gigging bass.

Anyone played one of these by any chance?

BTW, I can already hear the cries of "that headstock looks wank!" and the like.

The hardware actually looks pretty awesome. Headstock isn't offensive, but the neck doesn't look like it has much of any finish on it. Have you tried harmony central for reviews?

I just bought a Squier CV P Bass for about the same price, which I highly recommend. Can't comment on this one too much having never played one.

I think it looks good. Bridge bucker is a nice touch and could get some cool Stingray tones. The neck doesn't like quite as sleek and tapered as a P bass and the body looks a little chunky and less handsome though.

Our bass player has a Schecter, it's pretty good. I was with him when he bought it and it was the best sounding bass in the same price range that we had tried all day, i think he played £350 for it about 3 years ago. His has a through neck though and EMG pickups, not that a bass that doesn't won't sound good.

That's a nice looking bass. I'm GASing for a bass myself and I've had my eye on the Squier Jag bass but I haven't played it yet. This is a nice looking bass, though, wank headstock or not.

I've already got a Schecter Custom 4, and I'm loving the p-style of this one. Harmony central actually has nothing on this bass. The TalkBass forums give it a solid review, although they don't give many criticisms aside from a bad setup and it being heavy. They say satin finish for the neck.

I've always heard good things about Schecter, and this bass looks really nice! The bridge humbucker seems like a really nice touch too. I don't think it will get Stingray tones though, but that is a good thing in my opinion as stingrays sound kind of harsh in their mid and treble frequencies. I think that humbucker will just give more of a nice thick Jazz bass tone. I don't think you could go wrong with this bass.

Harmony Central really sucks now, I don't think anyone uses it anymore because everyone was so pissed about how they fucked it up and deleted their whole database of reviews.

What happened with your ripper copy?

Don't really like it. Sound is not what I thought it would be. too much treble without enough bottom.

That sucks, the real rippers have always sounded like they have a really good amount of bottom end.
