This is one of those times when the planets are aligned or something. I put this one together this weekend and I love it. It plays like a dream and sounds amazing to me.
I bought the body and loaded pickguard off ebay because I thought it might be an eighties Fender Bullet body. The picture wasn't that great and it was listed as unknown manufacturer plus it had a BIN of $35. Turns out it was a 1983 Hondo AllStar body which was a Bullet copy. I was disappointed to find that it's also made of plywood. No problem though, I'll just find a cheap tele neck for it and sell it on ebay to recoop my money.
Well, a reranch member sold me a tele neck for $50. He had bought it years ago and didn't care for the thin taper so he switched it out with a fatter maple neck. Long story short, the combination works like a charm.
Oh, and I changed my mind about selling it as well. It's definitely a keeper.

Dude that looks awesome. Is it routed for just a bridge pickup? a single coil in the neck would be a nice addition. It's cool as it is though, I would definitely keep it. Good find.

If you ever want out of it, I'll take it for what you are in it for
Those Hondo's are still good quality. I don't mind a ply body, they have a certain something special about them.

Trade you even for that $50 Musicmaster neck.
All kidding aside, you got first dibs if I ever get rid of it.

It's routed for a HB neck, SC middle and HB bridge. They used the same bodies for different combos like HH and SSS or just a split coil HB in the bridge like mine.

The split coil humbucker sounds great. As a HB it has more of a vintage single coil sound with just a bit more bite. As a single coil it sounds alot like a vintage bridge pickup in a DuoSonic or Mustang. It's my new number one.
