I have been looking on amps for a while . I own a Peavy tube amp right now and i dont like it!
The orange looks very very good. And when i have been listening to sound clips its even more tempting. The only problem is the price its to expensive. A cheaper choose! Any recommendations?
Ive also been looking at fender twin reverb 2x12 amp.

Second hand AC30s are pretty cheap and theyre sort of mid-way between the two.

I Love Orange amps.....I prefer to only play them....I got my Dual Terror for $500 on the used market.....TT are about $300-350... just depends on what u need.....Ur not gonna get a Rockerverb but you may find an Orange amp.... Hell even the bigger Pix Crush is money for a solid state amp and takes pedals like a tube amp.....

also I have never found a cheap alternative for an Orange amp...don't think it truely exists..might get close but nothing nails that glorious sound of the Rock Gods being channeled thru electric all tube sexification!!!!!

I refuse to pay in the thousands for Chinese made, brand backed imitations of classic amps.
I'll re-consider that position when the market runs dry of affordable vintage amps.

I think you forgetting that not all Orange amps are what your referring to..... Thunderverb....UK made....Rocked by Mastodon....Not what is called "Vintage Sound".... Not everyone buys a "vintage imitation" Orange

What about the Peavey don't you like? A change of speaker and valves can make the world of difference if you're after a certain type of sound.

Okay, Then I refuse to spend three times as much on a juju "built in the UK" amp regardless of it's modern voicing or it's association to a known band.
Look at it this way: If a company that is run out of a basement can build me an amp that is equal, tit for tot, in terms of quality and that is equally unique in terms of voicing for $1200, why must a huge operation that employs hundreds of people internationally resort to cheap labour, subpar parts and quality cuts in order to match that pricepoint. Eventually, you've got to wonder how much of that $3000 is that plastic nameplate.

Oh, and to address the question posed in the post directly:

I agree, I would never spend $1500-3000 on an Orange Head, I would not spend more than $1k....I would buy a JCM 800.....I just thru the Rocker as an example that Orange amps is more than a "chinese amp vintage tone co."

And I disagree with sub-par quality and cut corners.....Every Orange I have touched is superb quality, but Chinese making is cost saving, I do not like it but its not my choice where they are made...and its still UK engineered....

and I assume your referring to the Love Buzz, I have never played one and I have a hard time Loving an amp I have never played...They do sound Tits in the vids thou

Orange amps are great, and I don't think they're that unreasonably priced honestly. Especially since if you hunt around enough you can find them for cheaper than the big chains sell them for, and most people will price match. Or you can always buy used. One of my guitarists has an AD30 and it sounds amazing, by far my favorite amp that anyone in one of my bands has owned. My last band one of the guitarists had two different JCM800's during his time in the band, and they sounded good, but I still like the orange better honestly.

For what they are, I think that the Tiny and Dual Terror are really well priced.
Keep an eye out for a Rocker 30 as they are now discontinued and some places have been selling them off relatively cheaply.

Check out Egnater. Some of there stuff is quite affordable and sounds great.

Sloan is talking some sense here. I spotted some of the Bugera stuff a short while back and was a bit flummoxed as to what I was seeing. For less than twice the price I paid for my Peavey Classic 30 (which is a fantastic amp, by the way) you can grab a classy as fuck Bugera 30 watt 212

people slam the fuck out of them all the time, but i straight gigged at least 75 4hr bar band shows this past year with a bugera 333xl. the only failure was some shit mesa boogie 12ax7 that bit the dust. i bought this thing used for $200 because that molex connector was melted (look it up). soldered the wires to the pcb and bam, great amp.

I have a V5, and the construction is AWESOME. I wish it had a plywood baffle, but everything about it is tight, durable, and good quality.

I wish there was a cheap amp that sounded like an Orange - I think they have the prettiest and clearest clean tone of any amp. I just haven't found anything, though. The Tiny and Dual Terrors do a good job. The Rocker 30 does it better. The Crush series is great, and what I go for since I only do cleans.

Srsly. All this new shit, look at Proggys TT, thing fucked up after a month and he bought it brand new. Had to fit new valves. My Laney was made in 1975 and was stuck in a rehearsal room for years (probably abused by every band) and it has'nt been re-valved for years.
Sorry to sound like some corksniffing mojo twat but old Amps seem to have 'it' were as new Amps dont. I bought a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL new and within the first year all the valves went, the plastic input jack (lol) and the transformer, WTF is that all about? I paid £600 new and expect better.

the 22 watt bugera combo sounds damn good! I played a V5 at guitar center though and didn't like it at all... just sounded kinda dead, didn't really have any of the tube warmth that I was expecting. Especially for the same price as all those other 5 watt tube amps, the bugera doesn't hold up. Also, one of my friends used to have a 1990 head, I didn't like that thing at all either, to be fair to that one though, I didn't play through it myself, just heard him play it and it was eq'd to chainsaw mode.
