Jensen Speaker Problems

So I've been running my Bassman through this Jensen C12k since last February, on a weekly basis with a Bassman generally at 5 to 10 volume.
Recent there is a raspy spike sound when you hit a low string hard at a loud volume. The upper strings do not do this at all, so I feel like its something vibrating in the speaker.
I took it out of the cab to make sure it wasn't a screw or something, and the sound was still there. I could try to record it on microphone, if that would help diagnose it?
The speaker looks to be in perfect condition, no rips, tears, loose speaker cone, etc.?
IDEAS?

It may be pickups hitting strings?

Voice coil rub. Or the voice coil wires hitting the speaker.

Loose valves ? loose dials.... basically anything that could be loose.

This is what I was thinking, my old speaker got it too.

I've had similar problems when my tubes needed changing, kinda weird overtones only present on low tones. It's hard to say if they'd be comparable to your problem without a sample, but yknowwwwww.

My problem is with the speaker only. I isolated the cab, same sound. Then removed it from the cab, same sound.
This sucks, I think to fix it involves cutting up the dust cap and shimming, and stuff.

I didn't mean rattling tubes, but rather faulty powertubes creating un-musical noises. If the noise is coming from the speaker, what's to say it's not being produced by the amp? Or are you able to hear the sound coming from a separate part of the speaker?
Are you able to try the amp with a different speaker, and a different amp with the Bassman cab?

Ahh, I see. I have band practice today so I'll check that out.

Doog you are a smart one. I ran a bass amp through the speaker with no squeak.
I guess it's time to talk the ol' Bassman in again.
