cv duo sonic wiring noob

Post by rich »

i know nothing of guitar wiring whatsoever, but i'd like to take the neck pickup and pickup selector switch out of my cv duo sonic. i'm having a new pickguard made for these specs. it seems like an easy mod, but i don't even know where to begin. i think i have a soldering gun around here somewhere if i need it... thanks.

No, don't use a soldering gun for guitar wiring. You'll need a soldering iron. 30-40 watts would be fine.

You've not explained what you'd like to do. Unless you just want to leave the bridge pickup... which is what your post suggests. My question would be 'why?'

If this is what you want to do, just solder the wire from the bridge pickup to the volume pot. Wherever the wire from the switch currently goes.

whups, i meant a soldering iron. that's what i have. i just want to leave the bridge pickup, a tone knob and a volume knob. why? because i don't use the neck pickup, i often hit the pickup selector by accident and i think it would look cool. tim, thanks for the advice. seems simple enough. any changes for the tone knob or do i leave it be?
