Your probably right. On that documentary on him his tech corrects him several times on what year a specific guitar is and which effects setting he uses for a particular song.robroe wrote:im sure the edge is one of those dudes like keith richards that has so many guitars he doesn't even know what he has anymore.
Still, he blabs on about his first 'real' guitar (Gibson Explorer), how he had the headstock repaired etc. and how it came back out after years for Beautiful Day, so not all is lost.

Its kind of like CGI for Guitarists. Edge is using too much of it.mrperson wrote:Doesn't he have a different guitar for every song and an identical back-up for each one.Willem wrote:My uncle went to a concert of U2 a couple of years ago. He said that behind the edge were standing 49 guitars, he tried to count them.

because any signal, be it guitars, farts in a mic, glockenspiels would sound the same after being run trough his massive stack of rack effects.

*disclaimer* I rarely brand any music as shit, I prefer to comment wether I like it or not, but...
I 'strongly dislike' the music of U2.
I watched 'it might get loud' and the Edge made me feel incredibly secure about my role in this world as a musician.
I generally lack confidence in my own abilitities, but the edge made me feel rather good about myself.
After all, this man has forged a career around delay pedals!!!
I had to laugh when he revealed the song 'elevation' was essentially a variation of a single chord an overdrive and a wah-wah.
And uses a different guitar and F/X setup for each song.
I don't hate 'the hedge' I'm just fucking jealous I don't have the money or life style he has...

I do have respect voor The Edge and U2, but when i saw It Might Get Loud i was shocked.
Once, i saw a video on youtube where he was going to a guitar shop in New York with some guy.
He was playing on a Jazzmaster and when the guy asked him which guitar he uses for a song like where the streets have no name,
he was thinking for a few minutes and then asked his guitar tech about it. WTF, he doesn't even know that.
I still have respect voor The Edge, let that be clear.

He uses as varied gear as possible and doesn't play complicated things? What a wanker.
I don't really fault The Edge on much apart from his name and likeness. Let's face it, he's in U2: he could be the guy who bundles up cables after the gig and still look a pretentious dork.

I have never really been a fan of the Edge, especially after seeing It Might Get Loud. I can't imagine having that many guitars. I mean how can he even enjoy them if he doesn't even remember which one he used? I bet his tech could sell some of his gear and he wouldn't even realize it. Even if I am ever that rich I would probably just stick to maybe 5 guitars at the most. But pedals on the other hand, now that's a different story.....
