not spousal. bonus points for short scale. i love my craptastic harmony. bought this thing in a pawn shop a year ago for $50. i'm pretty sure it's a newer model. after some neck adjustments, it became very playable. it's not a short scale, but the body is so small that it feels like one. it can't be more than an inch thick, too. the pickups are really low output and the guitar itself is super percussive and loud... makes for some cool recordings when room mic'ed. what's your favorite cheapass guitar?

Westone Thunder I. got it when I was 17 and battered the shit out of it in my first band. had to make a scratch plate to remount the controls after a particularly bad beating.

That looks amazing.
I don't know why, but I really have a thing for that style of guitar.

This is my kind of thread.
I love cheap guitars, not necessarily 'beaters' though. I also love beat up vintage guitars. Nothing stinks more of rock n roll and one day i am sure they will take mojo samples from such equipment and inject it into the future.
My beater of all time has to be my Vester RG550 copy. It cost me £36 quid and its awesome, it stands up to the £500 Ibanez original version. Vester are of course a respected and collectible brand but still little known.

i've always hated how shredder guitars/superstrat-esque and the like all seem to have flat fretboard/neck ends, instead of the rounded strat style neck end. drives me batshit.

Love it. My missus would adore one of these too. I'm sure Sleater Kinney used the real deal at some point.

you could send that thing to modeling school, and have anne geddes assemble it in a baby tree montage, and it would still have oversized cutaways, a weird pickguard, and that fucking squared off neck end.

Dude. I like uglier stuff than most people here that happen to also like ugly stuff, so i must be cool as fuck.
I'm sure i dont need to explain but the general consensus in the guitar world is offsets are ugly, also dano's, hagstroms, burns and any design that strays from the main four to five classic designs is ugly.
I am the king of ugly. I own a Lindert for fucks sake

My first guitar, a strat copy that came with a marshall pack, it sounds like shit but the neck is actually nice. I'll get a humbucker sized p90 for it when i have some time. I hated that guitar for a long time, after i realized it was a stupid teenager thing to paint it and stab it and everything, but now i like it, brings back some memories

btw, all these guitars are ugly, except the first one probably, but they all look cool, even frans

My LTD would be considered a beater. I cut the neck pickup out shortly after buying it and used woodscrews to fix the jackplate. After that it took a beating.
