yay or nay? i'm thinking of popping one in the bridge my cv duo sonic, which is already a bastard project of iffy choices (string-through from the previous owner, no neck pickup, a giant peace frog sticker on the back, etc.). so, who has experience with putting p90s in short scales? got a favorite?

I used to have P90s in my Jag...sounded awesome, truly. I still have the pickguards in case I ever want to go back.
So I would say go for it - though I have no experienced of strat-sized P90s. I had Bare Knuckle P92s in it.

I'm fairly certain there's no such thing as strat sized P-90's.
Have you examples of any?

Not tried them and I wouldn't fork out $200 for a set, however around $70 to sort out my strat's flouncy bridge sound is appealing.

Well there you go. Weird that you don't hear much of them.

I *think* its a bit of a challenge to get P90 tone from a Strat sized pickup, what with the wide&flat vs. narrow&tall winding formats. Strat sized 90s might sound good, but won't quite sound like real 90s.

that's what i'm thinking. i believe the body is routed wide enough to fit a normal size p90 in there. and those are a lot easier to come by. a little pickguard dremeling never hurt anyone.

Rio Grande makes some that I've heard before. Dirty Harry's. They sound really good, imo.

It's a standard CIJ Jag that I had routed for P90s, actually, humbucker bridge first, then P90 neck and finally dual P90s.
It's back to "stock" now, but with rewound pups and a kurtdz diamond plate.

Ever try Burns Tri-Sonic pickups ? They're pretty P-90 sounding . GFS makes a good knockoff called Brighton Rocks .

Ends has a Mustang with a single P90 in the bridge, which looks and I imagine sounds AWESOME. Can't seem to find any picks though...

It's very very nice. The only place I've seen a lefty jag is from some guy from Japan selling them on eBay. I thought they were quite hard to come across....
