More Strat Jack Tom Foolery. I was searching eBay and found a Blue Sparkle Super Sonic and someone put a strat jack on the back side of the guitar. I have never seen this before. The funny thing is that the original jack is still on the front.

Makes no sense at all to me.

There was a pic recently of a jerk with two strat jacks on the front. Do an stereo jack, losers.

Would be cool if it was a plug for a preamp .

Strat jack on the back is cool if you hold the guitar in a way that makes it out of the way. There's a fairly small scale builder who does it but I can't remember who, will take a look to see if I can find it.

I do dig that switch tip.

I find that to be interesting. The guitar still looks very sexy

I'm going to come right out and say it: I don't think that's a half-bad idea.

And while we're at it: I think the strat jack is a sublime piece of engineering and design.

I've always kind of liked the idea of the side-mount strat jack:

I've seen it before too. It's not a bad idea... if positioned correctly and on an appropriately shaped body. This one looks like it could stand to be closer to the rear edge of the body, however.

Is that a production guitar or a custom build?

It's a Charvel Custom Shop dealie (Ebay link). The Randy Rhoads signature V's have side-mounted Strat jacks, too.

+1 although with the caveat that it depends where you stick it (ooh eer missus). In this case with the extended arse of the SS I think it makes sense and probably wouldn't get in the way. Slapped next to the pickguard on those new Squerrr Jags and Jazzes it looks stoopid.

If the owner bothered to do something with the original jack LIKE A KILLSWITCHLOLS it would be sweet

I think it's a great idea if you do the thread-through-strap thing with your cable.

If you're talking about Hold Your Horse Is, actually it's one for each pickup and then each pickup has it's own dedicated amp. Neck goes into a driven Marshall head and 2 x 12 (I think) and the bridge humbucker goes into some Laney bass head and cab for woof woof. No pots or switching or anything - very cool. The only pedals he used when I saw them was a channel switcher for the Marshall and a kill switch for the Laney.

It sounds huge and awesome live, so you can keep your stereo jack!

nah, it's crap. it seems like a good idea in theory. the plug nicely nestles into the guitar, instead of sticking out at some interfering angle. except... that's not the case at all. it's sticks almost straight out, in no practical way better than a top mounted jack. it's a complete gimmick really. sometimes it's actually worse than a top mounted jack because with a right angle plug it can stress the plug until it eventually breaks.

top mounted or les paul style jacks are by far the best because you can just use them with a right angle plug and forget about it.
