Damn I dont know what it is but it looks pretty sweet. I don't know if I would go for the clear finish/body, but I really like the shape and design of the body.

That trem is cool as...
It's a bit like a mustang trem, but more shapely. (look at the pics taken from behind)

If it's real how much would you say it was worth?

It has a bid on it so somebody must think it's worth that much. It's a one off guitar with history, i'd say it was worth that.

in the description they said it was before the starcaster, so it must be a prototype but in one of the pictures the other guitarist is playing a starcaster.

i've seen this photo before, the guy in the background has a coronado/starcaster hybrid. apparently fender were going to do a CBS special and reuse old coronado stock but they finally agreed to build a completely new guitar:
that's definitely a coronado body.

I wouldn't really call the acrylic guitar a starcaster prototype.. It looks nothing like a starcaster lol

With the neck and the pickups, it's understandable to call it that. At least that way people will find it on ebay. Not being hollow or an at all similar shape I'd agree with you, though.
The trem is definitely cool looking and like Stewart said, that's a Coronado body on the other guitar.

damn, I was mistaken. I don't know anything about old hollow-body Fenders.
Did the Cornado ever have the crazy headstock? I don't think I've ever seen one with it.

i've seen one for sale before, but the description just said it was a coronado with a starcaster neck, not a prototype. who knows, perhaps it's the same one?
edit:
nah, it isn't.

A prototype had a deep body and a 3-a-side headstock but other than that (and the XIIs having the hockey-stick) every one I've seen has the regular headstock in the classic Fender shape with that one edge rounded off.

The headstock might be like the starcaster but its rosewood with block inlays. I think all Starcasters were maple with dots?
It's more like the neck off one of these prototypes:
Ah its cool anyway!

the same guy who made that marauder prototype made the starcaster, fact fans.

The fact that the Beach Boys are playing it makes it pretty collectible.
