OK I haven't said this in a while about an amp, but...

Orange Amps continue to advance their guitar amps range with the new TH100 head, the 100 watt big brother of the TH30.

The TH100 has exactly the same controls and pre-amp section as its smaller sibling, but when running in class AB1 (half power) it makes 35 watts on two output tubes and 70 watts on four output tubes. Put it to full power (AB2 position) and the amp makes 50 watts with two output tubes and 100 watts with four.

Being able to switch to half power means you can reduce the listening volume while preserving the power tube distortion.

Just like the TH30, the TH100's design features the best of the Rocker and TH Series, with two channels. The clarity of the classic vintage sparkling sound on one channel plus the stunning overdrive / distortion with its British tone crunch on the other, makes this a very classy amp.

The new head will come with four EL34 tubes, four 12AX7 pre-amp tubes and a 12AT7 for the low impedance FX loop. It will also have four internal bias pots so the output tubes can be matched into the amp by a qualified technician. In terms of size and weight it will be comparable to the Rockerverb 100.

This mighty head delivers more tone, greater power and more features. With this knockout combination the TH100 will be the driving force behind your sound!
TH30 is £547 though so I imagine this will be way to expensive for me to consider.

Orange amps look the business and I always wanted one. A year or so ago I bought Rocker 30 and it made a load of pedals I had beeen using for ages sound rubbish. I sold the pedals and then realised that it wasn't the pedals being rubbish that was the problem but the amp just not liking them. Until I can be sure that i'll always be able to take my own amp when I gig I won't be buying another. However I agree with Mike that this amp sounds interesting, i'm particularly impressed with the addition of a 2 band eq on the clean channel which was something the Rocker 30 could have done with. I would be interested to know how well it takes pedals though.

i think that is the nature with orange amps in general, mainly with dirt/od/fuzzes. i've found that half the pedals i used to own/own don't work with my orange as well as they did with my tweed. the mainly advantage though, is you have the drive and dirt from the amp with the orange.
point of case is my recent purchase of the hot cake. it gets very flubby when you turn the gain past 11-12 o clock with the orange. yet my cool cat doesn't and works really well with it.

i gigged the DT with just the cool cat and it fucking rocked. i've never had so many people at a gig come up to me and say great sound, how do you get it from so little gear.

I think the Dano Cool Cat Drive (V1) was one of the pedals that sounded really good with my Rocker 30 too. I had OCD clone and didn't like it as much as I liked the CCD, yet another piece of kit that I regret selling - maybe i'll try and pick up another.

Tasty. Not sure about the shape control in the dirty channel, heard lots of mixed feelings about it, and certainly not what a 3 band eq will give you.
Love the power switching options. Pricing will be interesting especially if they assemble it in China like the TH30 and the Terrors. Reckon it could come in around the AD30 price range.

I kind of agree with you that it doesn't take dirt pedals too well... BUT I think when buying an Orange amp, surely you'd be going for the charachteristics of the amp's overdrive? That's what they're pretty famous for.

I've had my Rocker 30 for around 6 months now and have only really started to appreciate the amp's OD channel... It kicks the shit out of any other amp I've heard. I've also found that it doesn't really agree with my OCD clone but then playing it side by side with the amp's overdrive, there's not really a great deal of difference. Not that I can tell anyway... It just works great as a boost to the amp's drive. Using it with a Turbo RAT also sounds pretty great too!

I'd of liked to of seen some sort of selling point to the clean channel on the Rocker. I can appreciate that you're just getting the sound of your guitar through the speaker with no EQ but I don't ever use it.... There's no real point.

I agree with you which is why I said that until I can be sure that i'll always be able to take my own amp when I gig I won't be buying another. If i'm going to rely on an amps drive channel I need to be able to use it whenever I play a gig or rehearse.
