Where to buy good quality linear taper 1 meg pot in UK?

I need a good quality 1 meg linear taper pot for the tone control in my Jazzmaster. I don't mind paying money for a good quality one as the last 2 i've had have been rubbish - one had a loose shaft which meant it kept going from full to whatever it was set to when you touch it and the other turns the guitar sound off totally when you whack it up to 10. I Googled and found some retailers but don't know what the quality of the products is like, can anyone recommend something I can get in the UK (with retailer) that will be reliable and not crap?

Depending on your knobs you may need solid shaft pots. Check out some pedal parts suppliers as well as they'll be a lot cheaper than Â£5

I have split shaft pots at the moment so these should be just the ticket.

The buggers at Allparts are out of stock. As this is for a tone control will using a 500K or 250K pot make any difference in sound?

Thanks Mike. I wasn't sure if that was the case, i've previously been told that moving from a 1 meg to a 250/500K pot would only make a difference in sound if you change the volume pot (not the tone) but thanks for clearing it up for me.

It won't affect overall darkness in the tone pot position will it? It'll just give a different taper and roll off.

Um, yeah it will. The Tone control is always bleeding some treble to ground even when set completely full.

The value of the pot and the cap set the time constant or corner frequency for the filter. Even when it's set max, it's still a filter.

But presumably that's not the case with a no-load pot? So when it's fully open, it's effectively bypassing the pot?

Yes, because if it's no load that means it's completely gone. There is no connection between the volume and tone pots when a "no load" pot is at it's max.
