Here's the deal:

I don't want a classic player and I don't want to order a new AVRI from thomann.
Used japanese jaguars sell for like 8000 swedish crowns (roughly 1200$ or 740£).
That's not a reasonable price for a guitar of that standard, amirite? Also, they rarely pop up in selling ads.

So what are my options? German ebay? English ebay? I'm going to London this spring, but I'm not sure if I can take a guitar with me on the plane.
Does anyone have any experience shipping guitars to sweden from uk/eu?

I guess my biggest question is:

Why the fuck does every single guitarist in this country play strats?

You like to sell stuff for big bucks.
Remember I went to Sweden/Norway everything was even more expensive than here.
hah. Filled our little country with kind of low priced shops and then when all other shops went bankrupt,they boosted the prices.
So it looks like a buisnessmans stratocaster type of country.

Dont know about You, but speaking in general.

Strats are quite good, but a bit boring.

Here everyone enjoys these strange metal guitars with active pickups etc..
When I went and asked for a Danelectro, they said have I crushed my head and gave me a LTD or something.
Its not a bad guitar, but the market for musical instruments is so poor here, and most of players are some classic rockers or metal heads.

Got any English or American friends? Could someone send you a guitar? £740 should easily get you an AVRI jag. Alternatively lots of ebay sellers will post to Sweden. It's a bit pricey from the UK (£40-50) I reckon, but still a big saving.

Haha don't get me started on Norway. A burger at Mc Donalds is the same price as a three course dinner over here..

Nope . Yeah, I've looked at some auctions, however the big concern is not getting ripped off. It feels kind of unsafe to deal with an international seller. But I'm beginning to think it's worth it..

Haha, I can only imagine how our prices must seem to you. Swedes rant all the time about how cheap everything (especially booze) is in the baltic states.

Really, cheap booze is the Swedish dream..

EDIT: Thanks for the help so far. I will check out a couple of ebay auctions. The ishibashi-site is nice, but to import from japan is out of the question, seeing how expensive it has gotten.

Definitely stick to the EU if you can, if only to avoid the hassle and cost of customs.

I'm talking to a swedish seller that's got a japanese jaguar (CIJ) with an alder body. It's got a humbucker in bridge position. Would it be a hassle to swap it for a single coil? Is a fitting pick guard hard to come by?

Sorry for n00b questions..

Probably best to avoid this. The guitar will have been routed for the humbucker, and who can tell how good a job they've done?

Is it really that big of a concern that it's routed for a humbucker? The pickups are mounted straight into the wood if I'm not wrong? If I get a new pickguard, will it matter that the routing is slighly bigger in the bridge?

He's giving me a fairly good deal, trading in one of my guitars that I really want to get rid off.

This looks great. The routed one looks like a pig, and you will lose resale on it unless you LOWBALL the seller significantly for what he's asking.

Ah, fuck the routed one then. He keeps telling me that a basswood jag won't sound like a jag, but he uses fucking humbuckers?! Makes no sense. I'll bid on the german one!

Haha! WHAT??? of all the Fender guitars, Jaguars are probably the least reliant on wood type to acheive their signature sound.
What with the scale length, pickups, unique circuitry and trem... You could bolt all of that onto a Masonite kitchen counter and it would probably still sound like a Jag!

this must be a asking price or situation based opinion then, because (as seen in my pickguard thread) i just found out my jag is routed for a middle pickup, and knowing that didn't break my heart. i would pay what i did again, and would've gone $100 more. i don't really think it should take away from a CIJ jag, that's teh bullocks.
