lady haze loves these "lunch box" amps and teles so I had to relay the message.
12AU7s means GAAAAIIIINNNN! Headphone out and cab sim is cool, but the sound isn't quite there. The "Bright" mode doesn't sound very bright and the "Thick" mode bypasses the tone stack what the fuck? I can see it being useful for recording or home use but its more of a two trick pony, and neither of those two tricks sound very good...

I thought it sounded very good, especially from the price point, But then again I think Andy can even make a wet fart sound good, he does great demos....
Love the Les Paul at 1/2 gain, I did not dig it at full gain thou...

DS-1 is a damn good pedal, just needs time to get a good sound. These guys are trying to sell everything they advertise so you bet your ass they'll find the omega sweet spot on a ds1 if it means they can move a few more units

The DS-1 isn't a good pedal. It's awful. It's easily the worst dirt pedal I've owned.

The Boss DS1 holds the award for being the only pedal i have ever gotten a headache from. It was my first distortion. Then i learned what is now known as "hearing" and never used it since then. I actually shipped it off to Ukraine along with my first electric to a kid for dough and he is loving the strat, said the pedal is aite too.

how is the ds-1 compared to the ds-2?
i've got a ds-2 and it has it's place. pair it up with an overdrive pedal in front to round it out and it sounds great.

They're alright really, but definitely benefit from being run with a valve amp and keeping the tone control in check.

Yea, Andy & PGS definitely make some of the best, if not the best demos on the net when it comes to gear. Too bad most of the people probably watching don't have the chops Andy does . Either way, if you're going vox just go AC15. I understand the lunchbox idea but the new ACs are great.
Not really, no. Breakup is caused when you drive the tube out of it's linear operating region into saturation.
"Nice" sounding overdrive is the region between saturation and full-on clipping which sounds "nasty". This has more to do with the circuit design surrounding the tube than the tube itself.
The 12AU7 was probably chosen to create the lower output volume overall.
