Somebody hop on this! I'll pick it up and send it out if anyone is interested! I got mine for $300 a couple years ago, and they've just gotten more expensive since then! I love mine, really cool little basses, and a couple other people here also own black 70's MM basses and can speak about how awesome they are.

Gosh, if I lived a little closer, or could justify spending any extra money I'd be all over this.

I have a 78 that I love, and really want a second. Every time I see one I realize that I barely have reason for two.

damn, what a great price. that neck's worth $150 or more.

I was about to call it the worst sounding bass ever made before I realized that there's a cap that's always engaged. Once I got rid of that, now it's falling back into favor with me, and I think it's a string change away from being a fantastic instrument.

Did you post about that on Talkbass? Somebody just posted a thread about that and removed the cap on theres on that site. Mine is completely stock and I love it, even with the cap. It sounds dark as hell, and I love it. It's not for everything though that's for sure. Mine is strung with some flatwounds and it plays awesome, and sounds completely different from my other basses.

I like bright basses. I do turn down the tone knob sometimes, but I think a cap that's permanently engaged is criminal. It's taking all that wonderful tone from your pickups and hacking at it before it ever reaches the output jack.

Yea, that's why it would never work as one of my main gigging basses as it is. But I love the way it sounds for certain things.

But couldn't you just take the cap out then so you have the full tonal capacity of the pickups when you want it?

I mean, as I said, now I find that the bass is too bright and I actually found myself playing it today with the tone rolled all the way down. Now that it's something I can dial in, I actually love that tone.

I don't really find that it sounds the same as a normal bass with the tone off though. It just sounds dark and gritty. The tone knob still has an affect on the sound. I like the sound of mine, unmodded.

Fair enough. I think I'll put flats on mine, and buy a new Squier Bronco Bass and try a humbucker in it, or a Mustang Bass pickup. I absolutely love these Bronco/MM/Mustang basses but can't afford a Mustang bass.

i took the cap out of mine when i had it, i preferred it without.
