there's a small town used guitar shop about 25 minutes away from me that had a Explorer Uke that was some sort of baby/daphne-ish blue . . .

wish I had a camera on me when it was there.

Why the fuck is he dressed in a lab coat?!

He looks like a 90's euro techno surgeon.

I wonder if they will bring it out in any other finishes? I'd like an electric ukulele and the guard is pretty sharp. Not a fan of the flame whatever burst though. I like my instruments to be as wood looking as possible (boring)

Uh, it's an ukulele, not a mandolin... fairly different instruments.

I kinda like it, but, I agree, the classic cherry burst is kinda meh. Would love a decent uke; the one I have is garbage, with terrible intonation.

Dr Epiphone did a talk at my work, dressed exactly like that. Hahaaa...

Show some respect. He is a Doctor.

( ... and not a student hairstylist as I first presumed.)

Ugh.

Yes, twelve hours of work will do that. The LP uke made me look at the eastwood uke (really pretty, but a little expensive) and then I clicked to the eastwood mandocaster. Only after that did I reply.

I've edited the above post to remove confusion. re: I like the idea of an electric uke.

Awh man! I was hoping for a "ha, ha" after my wicked net joke.

However you are right. I hadn't noticed the pickups. I'm not a fan of open humbuckers ever, but they look amazing. Are they bronze, or wood colored? Even still they are hard to see when squished inside that exploding candy cane.

What you're probably seeing is the copper wire coil wrapped around the magnets.

Actually I kinda like the reverse Explorer thingy. If only it was made in Japan and carried >400€ pricetag. Throw a Floyd Rose and some rad humbuckers in there and you're ready to shred.

It could also be the company that the guitar is in that makes it look good.

ALSO THIS ABOMINATION!!

one of the ugliest guitars ever. EVER.

Interesting piece.

I was almost inclined to believe Dr. Epiphone wasn't a real doctor, be he executed the Hippocratic Salute in a manner only a true doctor would.

Against my better judgment and normal sense of taste, I actually kinda dig this thing. I find it so... intriguing!
The humbuckers are goddamn brilliant looking, and I did notice them right away. The laminate wood/carving gives it a really distinct look that can't be properly replicated with paint...
