Hmmm. $800 and it's refinished or at the least the finish has been ruined. I'd say that it's well overpriced.

it's a nonpro refinish like something I would do to a ikea item, and that pickguard dude, no way they made that in the 60s. Same for the knobs. Taking this into account, it's not a real killer deal. The fact that he doesn't say anything about pickguards and knobs doesn't make it better.

If I play this in a a shop and absolutely like it, maybe it can be worth that money to me. But no reason to get too exited about an ebay ad here :)

I suppose a selling point is its pre CBS but i think its overpriced. You see original MM parts on ebay that would work out cheaper to assemble yourself than $800.

The Mustang style Musicmasters were first made around August 64, and was called the Musicmaster II. You're looking at a Musicmaster I. It's January 64 on the neck and this is the type of musicmaster they made at the time.

they made red ones in that period, some had transparent finishes over mahogany bodies.

That refin is terrible. I don't think it's a very good deal either.

Yeah I am pretty sure that pickguard is accurate... and so are the knobs

59 MM

I dunno, I thought 800 for anything Pre-cbs is a good deal, I never se 50s-60s MM for under 1000

I wasn't thinking of the mm II, I just wondered if they ever used 1 ply pickguards. but maybe I was wrong.

I think Musicmasters are one of those things that are better post-CBS.

Not only that, they're Duo-Sonics under the pickguard.

Plus for me, the proper look is with the massive headstock.

More importantly, I think the offset body is a huge improvement.
