I like this one a lot. I like black pickguards on a lot of sunburst guitars. Especially the typical fender two tone or 3 tone sunburst. But I don't like it on any of those other pictures you posted.

Yea I like that a lot too. It's a very 70's look, very nice.

I realise when you say burst you mean specifically les pauls, but the real class of burst and black guard lives here.

It never ceases to amaze me how Joe Bonamassa can continually top himself in the highly competitive field of looking like a complete tool.

I approve. I think the combination looks great with a maple neck Tele.

Burst + black pickguard is one of the "never fail" combo's for me. It just oozes out class.

++mint works well with bursts, it brings out different colours from the burst.

I think they look great (although for me they share equal balance with mint guards).

The lady I bought my Bronco from put her Mustang back on Ebay.
It is a 77 unsold store stock from her grandmothers store. Can ya dig it?

I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig it
They can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it
Can you dig it, baby
I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig it
They can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it
Can you dig it, baby

With the 3 tone fender burst, I really like the look of the gold anodized [jazzmaster] pickguards or a red-ish tortoise guard.

I used to like him a couple of years ago, when he was fat and didn't wear dodgy garish suits.

He just looked like every other blues guitarist, which was cool - but when he started playing more contemporary blues rock, he changed his image and now looks like a tool and will probably put his name on anything.
