First off i know a lot of people wont buy from this company now, not even on the second hand market. Well i got this second hand for £10 and before anyone shouts IRONY yeah i know i'm wearing a Smiths shirt and playing Dead Kennedys on a Dano pedal.
Politics aside.
If your looking for a good cheap 'slapback' delay and buying Dano second hand is within your principles this is a great pedal.

George asked me about slapback the other day and i also did'nt think the current demo's do the pedal justice so i did one myself.
You cannot change the time, just the mix and amount of repeats. At a stretch you can get the East Bay Ray sound but its best suited to the Rockabilly/50's thing as far as tradition goes.
Roe/Noirie Tele as well. See what you think...

Tele sounds awesome. That video's got me wanting to do some slapback when I get home.

Thanks guys :D

I think its about a double repeat George, you can hear it at the beginning.

Sounds great Fran. If the Hazarai wasn't all boxed up for Lorez at the moment, i'd probably be losing a couple hours trying to imitate that demo.

theyre pretty sweet, I think I bought mine for a fiver of Thom.

was great fun, you can mod them to work as a normal delay too which theyre really good at.

also can be circuit bend fairly easily so theres fun there too.

unfortunately I dropped my soldering iron when i was doing some more work to it and managed to knock off one of the capacitors - its now just a farty noise box, which is kinda fun but is a bit pointless. :?

Very cool demo, Fran; the NoiRoesquire sounds great. I bought one of these pedals some years ago and at some point did the full-wetness mod. This demo has got me wanting to dig it out of my Benecol Basketâ„¢.

This guy seems to have summed up the most effective mods in a much-clearer-than-the-one-I-followed post:

Oh, and the beavisaudio guy had a neat project for this pedal that he later pulled from the site in light of the Prop 8 stuff:

Thanks for the replies. It warms my soul to think a demo can inspire people to check bands and try settings etc :D

avj: Thanks for them links. I quite like this how it is but if i see another cheap then mods could be on the agenda.

Just realized i've not commented on the Tele as others have.. cracking guitar, no bullshit, distinct sound (proper Tele tonez) and i fear i may have opened up a financial can of worms buying this. Before you can say "too many guitars again" i'll be hunting a Baja down.

Their CEO was a financial backer of Prop 8.

And nice demo Francis.

The owner of Danelectro donated at least $10000 towards proposition 8.

well now, that's unfortunate. I have a 1959 Dano U2, but it was bought from
a local used music store so Dano corp. didn't actually receive the money. I'll
use that excuse to make me feel better.

It depends how hardline you are but buying used I think is okay, as do most other people, as you're not profiting them directly. In fact buying used something which they currently sell is worse for them. I can't see myself buying new from them anytime soon.
