Metalz on the Fenders

Lets say i would want a metal tone running a Epiphone Flying V through a Fender Deluxe. Without forking for a new amp. Whats a good pedal for metal gain. I'm thinking something along the lines of Megadeth during Peace Sells.

i've been having fun playing megadeth stuff and similar on my grunge pedal actually. it's not the best pedal in the whole wide world, but it's fun for this application. Metal Zone could obviously work, but Megadeth has a messier (in a good way) sound, i think.

I use an mxr fullbore metal and love it.

Although it has a pretty stupid name I was impressed by the EHX Metal Muff when I played through one.

I get a pretty evil sound from running a Boss DS1 that I did the keeley 'All Seeing Eye' mod to.

Really cheap pedal and the parts for the mods came to just over a pound I think.

Something with range on the eq...

Boss MT-2
Marshall Jackhammer
Behringer Tube Modeller

are obvious choices.

I thought my Behringer Ultra Fuzz in to EHX Small Stone gave me metal sounds but I'm not really educated in that way so I might be wrong

if I ever start playing more metal I will just build me a Dr. Boggie

Fulltone Distortion pro was always my favorite full boar distortion. Lots of settings. I had one of those I used along with a SIB Varidrive that together got as heavy as my marshall jvm410H did. That said my metal knowledge (as far as playing) is about nil, I'd be more likely to be playing Wham songs than metal...Not that I do either... Nor do I have anything against metal. I am just primarily a strummer/singer. Also those 2 pedals would cost you as much as an amp.

Right, fuck the entire apartment complex. I'm just going to disregard all the rules and RAWK.

I think we already gave some stand up options

-MXR Fullbore Metal
-Boss MT-2
-EHX Metal Muff
-that rediculously awesome and expensive Emma

Metal Muffs can be bought used for dirt cheap, there everywhere

Stack two drive pedals, any model, use bridge pickup, turn down tone.

Also not exclusively a "metal" pedal despite the name, they actually get a decent range.

This review by (teehee) Dave Weiner is what made me what one. And as Ends says, it shows it definitely has range rather than just TEH METALZ.

I wasn't completely happy with it when I tried one out in a shop, but the amp they gave me to try it through was a Marshall MG so... yeah. At some point I'd like to try one through my Tiny Terror. Metal Muff and Tiny Terror are both alliterative, which entertained me briefly for some reason in case anyone's interested.

watching Dave Wiener play is classic, he has so many weird facial expressions and the way he moves his head is just, well...odd

I'd recommend against the Metal Muff. It's one of the two pedals I can think of that I've bought without hearing first, the other being a DS-1. I think I had mine for about a week at the most.
