I didn't like it as much as my Laney, however it was a nice sounding amp. I wondered what the free crate stool was all about, didn't know they were made by crate...

WHAAAAAAA

I did not know that.

Anyway, are Crate amps really that bad? The valve series they did some years ago (55 or something?) seemed to get fairly good reviews. Sloan was a fan.

Fact...Crate use to be owned by St. Louis Music Corp and made here in St. Louis Mo...... Crate was sold and now is made in some Asian country and quality suffers.....

you can still get some decent tonez but in that price range u might as well get Peavey durability too

There amps are known to break down a bit. (the v series I think is the ones you were talking about)

BUT, they are pretty good mod platforms. Change the speaker and clean up some of the electroncis and you can have a decent amp for pretty cheap. I remember at one time they were blowing out the Crate V series amps for like under 200 USD for the 50 watt combo 2x12. 100 for the 15 watt 1x12 I think.

I've had the handsome devil for over a year now. It's a bright amp, but it's a nice change up from my mig 60. Never had a dYs trouble from it and it's used near daily

Do not know about the blackhearts. I know the old club series and V series had some reliability issues. I think this was mainly with gigging/ They did not handle being moved/tossed about/smoke/spilled beer/etc. I am sure the blackheart can handle the End Chokehold just fine though.

I've looked inside. It's as nice as any boutique. I'm sure it could live up to steady gigging.

aye, the one I played sounded really nice. I'd have bought it if I didn't already have a tube amp.
