The one I have my eye on is about as cheap as the Behringer version.

i would say its worth the punt then as you will be able to flip it again easily if you don't like it.

As I said I like it, it goes well with my phaser.

I hope it goes well with my phaser too. If it's as good as the Behringer Superfuzz then i'll be in for a treat.

I think they are considered different but also good. it's the FZ5 that's supposed to be rather boring.

I thought the FZ-5 offered two modes which are basically the previous two FZ models?

That FZ sound always reminds me of NIN.

The FZ5 has 3 modes that are supposed to sound like a fuzz face, maestro fuzz and octavio but don't do either of them very well due to using digital modelling or something.

Turns out the FZ3 I located doesn't work, he wanted £25 for it - i'm not willing to take a risk on whether it can be fixed so I let it go.

yeah FZ5 is digital modeling. FZ2 and 3 are analog superfuzz derivatives. doesn't mean the fz5 is not usable, it might be just the sound you want, I really don't know.

I thought the FZ3 was a Fuzz Face derivative?

er, why yes, I believe you are correct. damn, I always believed people describing it as a simplified FZ-2 but apparently that's a crock of shit; it's a fuzz of another mother. so it's a fuzz face with a big muff tone control then? intelesting...
