i may get shot down in flames for this but are behringer pedals really a viable alternative to boss, EH etc????

i really want an Electro Harmonix Holy Grail Nano (around the £80 mark) but ive just discovered the behringer alternative (rv600 around £30) and i cant square the £50 difference.

ive always been into boss, eh, jim dunlop (ie all the brand names) but for saving 50 quid im willing to try the rv600.

am i making a big mistake? i know about the plastic casing and that doesnt bother me but i dont have a guitar shop local where i can check out the sound differences

in short is the 50 quid price difference for the EH worth it?

I had the same opinion as you until I actually tried a Behringer pedal. I have the Super Fuzz and it's flippin' great, awesome sound and doesn't sap any tone, that i've noticed. Some people think that the plastic enclosures won't stand up to much, but I think Hurb made a video, which can be seen on youtube, showing how robust they are.

Buy one and try it, I think you'll be surprised.

behringer do good work, i've got a superfuzz and it's a great pedal regardless of the price.

Bang 'rv600' into the search at the top of the page and you'll find unanimously positive comments about them. They're great pedals.

Yep, the RV600 is a great pedal: plenty of people ditched their Verbzillas (which it's a clone of) to get one, since Behringer improved on the original a touch.

Got my first Behringer pedal recently, the VD400. Love it. Seems strong enough, although I can't seem to remove the input jack patch lead from the hole. It's bloody stuck. Anyone else had this problem?

I have a RV600 on order from digital village at the moment. for the money its a great deal. I've only had issue with one pedal but I got it sorted on warranty, but then again I've had boss and ehx pedals go bad as well.

No issues with Behringer pedals here. I've owned 4 different ones--VD400, RV600, VP1, CC300. I've sold two of them, not because they were bad, but because I no longer needed them. They all sounded good and are/were reliable.

On a related note, I wonder if the DR600 nails the RV5's modulated reverb?

The only problem I have with my Behringer Super Fuzz is that the velcro I have doesn't like sticking to the bottom of it so it won't stay stuck down to my pedal board. Anyone else have this problem?

Yeah I have that. Might break out the super glue for it as they're so wonderfully cheap it's not a big deal.

Yes, but the modulated reverb is a short loop. it doesn't really explore it using different settings. I guess I was wondering if anyone here had used both and could compare how the modulated reverb was on the Behringer vs. the RV5.

Well, I have an RV600 and the grey analogue delay. They're fine. You get what you pay for and I think that with reverbs and delays, you either go cheap or spend a serious amount of dough. There's not a huge amount of choice in the middle there.

Buy the RV600, but don't get *too* hung up on the 'shimmer' thing. I think it's mainly that feature that leads to people buying one instead of a Verbzilla. But give it a few hours and - at least in my experience - you'll remember that you never seriously wanted to sound like The Edge.

being a cheap bastard i opted to pick up their tuner instead of the boss one, it goes through 9volts a little quicker.. but so far it has out lasted the two boss tuners that the other guys in the band use...
i find that most hilarious.

I have the Super Fuzz and the Tuner on my board, and I wouldn't think of them as any lower quality than anything else on there (Boss, EHX, MXR, amongst others). <3 Behringer.

unless they're rechargeable, i don't see the point at all. unless you're a christian bringing on the endtimes, or a republican who just wants to rape earth in the face.

it works, i get no hum when it is engaged, for $32 CAD i'm super pleased with it.
used it for all my setups, intonation etc, i find it is quite a good bargain, that and i'm in tune with the rest of the fellows and their boss tuners.
as for BATTARAYS .... i use rechargeable 9volts.. i'm no eco-terrorist. just don't see the point in pulling out a plugin for one pedal, that is usually located nowhere near anyplace to plug it in.
