MIM Duo Sonic w/ Mustang Control Plate

Post by doober314 »

Hi All,

I have a MIM Fender Duo Sonic and was wondering if a Mustang control plate would fit without drilling any new holes. If it doesn't fit, anybody got a good resource on how I can get a MIM Duo Sonic looking like the Duo Sonic II?

I was thinking, since my pickguard is cracked around the control knob area, I could replace it with a Mustang control plate and reshape the existing pickguard so it'll fit.

Cheers!

I know it won't fit a CV Duo. The control cavity is too wide; the Mustang plate's screws are over space, not wood.

they're totally different body shapes, so i think you might struggle somewhat unless you're willing to have a completely custom guard and control plate made up.

your local blacksmith followed by an electroplater, i'd say.

You could make your own out of stainless (or maybe aluminium), then polish it to a chome-like shine.
