I've been looking into trying to build one. Admittedly I haven't looked very hard, but I can't seem to find any baritone set up bodies or a place that actually sells baritone necks. This is perturbing..

I know shortscale has mad love for the Baritones, just wanted to know if anyone had built one or knows where to get the resources to do it. Also, though I have searched I haven't found any discussion about Baritone bodies - do they exist or can you just slap a baritone neck on a guitar that's set up for 25.5 scale necks, if so; how comes?

I was pondering buying one but you can get a Superstrat baritone with a Floyd for like $200 from Rondo. I would have to turn in my cred card after that, but... it's so tempting.

I thought it would be cool to get a hold of my old telecaster project and wack a baritone neck on to it so that it gets a bit more use. If I could spend say... £50 on a neck and then just chuck the hardware from the old neck into the new baritone one, then that would completely ideal.

But if I had to drill and route stuff and other things that are way out of my skill range and budget, kinda makes it all a bit of a defunct idea.

I'm, sure there are baritone conversion necks out there although I forget where - maybe Benecol's new neck is. Others will know.

I myself would be interested in giving a go at a Tele conversion w/Warmoth neck.

Entireley possible, but treble your budget, young man. Allparts make a nice neck, sans nut and tuners, but you'l need to import it from the states. Otherwise, Goldo necks are available in the EU.

Goeldo have some keen prices on pedals, I see. €12.90 for teh Behringer HF300? No doubt postage will kill it.

What about a normal telebridge? Do the thick baritonestrings go through the body or will bring this some problems?

Hell yes a normal tele bridge wil handle baritone strings.

I've superlowtuned tons of teles, with up to .72 on the lowest, they slide through the ferrules and saddles easy as pie.
I'm a big fan of the heavy strings/low tuning school of baritone, but I've also got a baritone conversion neck on order. I had one before, but I fucked up pretty much every aspect of my order, so I didnt like it when I got it. Now that I know how to specify tuner hole size and frets and whatnot, I'm hoping the longer scale affords me better tuning stability, intonation, and snap.

Low tuning a 25.5" guitar works, there's no doubt, but the tuning isnt as stable as a standard setup, and the sound is a little floppy in A. It tightens up considerably in B. At shows On my squier tele custom II, sometimes I have to bend strings in chords as I play them to get them "right on" after vigorous strumming.

I've baritoned pretty much every guitar I've had, at one point or another. Jags are tricky. They dont really like to go down to B and hold their shit together. Strats are pretty good, provided you have the trem locked down. Jazzmasters are TITS MCGEE and the trem works and everything. I had a 25.5" jagmaster that refused to intonate to any tuning I could come up with including standard. By friend had a 24" Jagmaster that worked pretty well in B, but he had tuning problems, IIRC, but dumbass refused to lock his trem down.

There are conversion neck, as have been mentioned, to convert 25.5 to a baritone scale. Warmoth, for example has a couple models.
Just slapping an actual baritone neck on a 25.5" body will require moving the bridge back on the body to maintain the proper scale length. If you have a top-loader, that's not such a problem, but if it's string-through, there's some extra drilling and hardware install involved. Think of it like slapping a Jag neck on a Strat; it'll play but it won't be in tune.

VI strings wouldn't fit, I think, but baritone strings JUST might... but I'm not certain.

He'll prolly have to change the bridge .. I was gonna convert my Toronado..... Wasn't gonna be worth it ..
