Pearl Duo Reverb, Music Man 212 HD or Roland JC 120

Post by Kurbis »

I'm having a bit of trouble on deciding what to get. Does anyone have any experience with any of these? Any suggestions?

I'll probably bring out my Mustang to the shop and try them out but any advice from someone with experience with these amps would help a lot.

I used to have a Pearl Duo Reverb (and thank you - until today, and the subsequent image search, I'd forgotten what the model was called) - it was OK while I had it. Utterly clean (no gain control), the trem and reverb were nice, and it was crazily loud. I once got an electric shock buggering about in the back of it at a gig. While it was on. If it was me, I'd go for the JC120 because they're so pretty and have clever stereo things going on.

never played the other two but i have a JC120. it's nice, although it weighs an absolute ton. good for fuzz and big muffs, but you may want to stick a very mild overdrive in front of it for a bit of warmth as it's exceptionally clean. unless that's what you're after.

Thanks both of you. Right now I think I'm leaning towards the Pearl as it is lighter and costs a couple hundred less.

Does anyone have experience with the Music Man?

Nevermind, I got the Pearl today. I'm enjoying it. Sounds good with my Mustang and my Rogue. I can't wait to get my Jazzmaster fixed.
