you just said mine. I loved my acoustic bass amp. I played through it with my guitar a lot and it sounded pretty good with all the highs up and lows down.

sweeeet rig.

My other choice would be a sansamp and a 15"

This and a Sansamp would be all I need.

I did a bass rig for $500 a few months ago.

Same fiesta red CV bass (was $325 on sale new, and had them dig around for a used hardshell case that I could make fit it.)
For an amp I got a GK 100watt 1x12 combo. Not really as loud as I'd like but it gets the job done and has an awesome fuzz channel. I found this as a "last one" clearance at $175 new

I've got an old Acoustic bass head that's super awesome. Good to hear the brand is still quality.

I actually haven't played through any of the newer acoustic brand amps, but I've heard a lot of good things about them. I am a fan of the vintage ones as well. Those can still be found for pretty cheap too which is cool.

If I had to piece together a bass setup for under $600 I would get a '70's Acoustic or Peavey rig, I see them pop up on craigslist all the time for $400-ish or less, and a Squier Vintage Modified or CV bass, also used. If I had extra money I would look for a used sansamp or save for a little bit for one.

A sansamp is definitely a must for any gigging bassist in my opinion. But honestly it won't do you any good unless you are playing with a good PA system. I've used it for on the fly practices trying out for bands and stuff when I couldn't bring my whole rig, and it only is audible if it's being played through a really good PA. So the same goes for gigs, it will only be useful if you're playing a venue with a decent sound system.

I'd get a Squier Bronco bass for like 100 used. Buy a little 59 or some double stacked single coil for 50, tint and coat the neck for visual and comfort apeal for another 30 bucks. maybe paint the pickguard...

THEN SPEND THA REST ON A BADASS AMP... old Traynor.

Yeah, but they're talking whole rig, not just the amp... you probably paid at least that for the Aerodyne too, doubling the spending cap ;)

The CV 60's Precision Bass is still the best sounding p-bass I've heard. Man, I gotta get one when I get my money.

Yep!
I just wanted to show off my new amp. My thread on talkbass was quickly ignored.

What's the link? I have a TB account, but almost never go there; there's too much content, most of it irrelevant to my interests and too many good threads just disappear in the clutter... I'm pretty interested to hear about the amp, actually.
I'm also an Aerodyne Jazz player; same version with the Strat jack.

It's still a little buzzy, but not at all noticeable when playing.

yea I have a talkbass account as well. I haven't been on there much in the last month or so though. If you don't check it constantly every couple hours during the day, threads get so buried that it's hard to catch up, and you're more likely to miss the interesting threads.

The bassist in my band has a really really super cheap rig...

Westfield Jazz bass copy - £70
Maine head (not sure what wattage) - free
No name 1x15 - £40
Pedals; Big Muff, MXR GT-OD, Cool Cat Drive, Memory Toy - about £200 I think, probably slightly less than that
= £310

My bass rig consists of a Tanglewood Rebel 4k and a 'Prime' practice amp (which is now broken), they cost me £200 in a starter pack bundle thing. A £600 bass rig would be a luxury for me, haha, but I'd have:

Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass - £319
Image
(I actually prefer how P Basses look, but can't stand their necks)

Laney RB5 - £230
Image
I think I go on about these too much, but they have two of them at my school and I think they sound amazing for bass and for guitar.

And my Effector13 2ADD is awesome for bass, I paid £29 for it
Image

= £578

But how much for the spaceship you've got the bass resting on? Surely that's where all your tone comes from.
