not a parody thread. LEL

after a long wait, and much deliberation, i've finally received the guitar all the way from Pat in MEH-HICO. in exchange for a near perfect jagstang (aenstang).

small problems:
  • i attempted to take off the tone knob to tighten the pot, and the shaft broke at one of the split sides. it wasn't even hard to remove.
  • i attempted to string it up, and noticed that the high e tuning peg was broken on one of the split sides.

so now i have to replace two things almost right off the bat. :(
first impressions:
  • the neck is a thicker profile than i'd hoped, and a little worse for wear. the high e side is quite scratched and worn, but still feels nice to play. i think i'll get along on it ok, plus the crazy aged birdseye shit on the headstock is WYLD.
  • the body is pretty worn, but looks great, and i think it might be original paint(?).
  • i haven't amp'd it up yet, but hope to tonight. i bet it will sound great through sum FUZZ.
better pics to follow, and maybe even a demo.

oh i'm so glad that it's finally there... and SO sorry for being such an ass and taking so long to be able to send it out.
i'll make it up to you (check yer email for naked pics of me) ;)

uhm... you see i tried to pack it up real good, did the tuner thing still break?! i don't remember it being broken. :?

yes the neck is quite a baseball, not really my thing. bummer. cuz she looks so hot.
i decided to never clean it, heh.

enjoy 'er man. i'm really happy having a jag-stang back in the house.
plus... it's got teh aenz. hell yeah. but it's REALLY bright (is the 1K pot still in there i guess, right?)

lemme know how it goes. you will love her, i promise!
rock on,

Pat.

So nice.

Baseball bats are part of 70s musicmaster's I now assume.

Really? I am jealous. I get on with wide necks, but I love my Classic Series Mustang thats probably a B or whatever.
I also have a 72 Musicmaster neck thats wide as all hell, and helps with play chords.

That sucks though, I was figuring I could assume what all Musicmasters from the 70s play like when shopping vintage but I guess not.

Fender of the 70s seem to be the most unorganized load of guitar makers ever.

Mine was a standard B neck, not too thin nor too large.

so excited to play this . . .

I have a set of 6 in line tuners I was going to use but would fit on my SX neck you could have.

the good

they're free

the bad

they'd probably need small holes drilled in the headstock

I have some terrible ideas.

some of them are. my '78 stang has a baseball bat neck. I currently have a '77 musicmaster neck on it which is absolutely perfect though. not too fat or too skinny.

I was playing my 1978 Musicmaster today. It's even a really good slide guitar. The neck on mine is a 1972 Music Master B neck. Absolutely perfect.
