What do you like for low gain overdrives for single coils?

I've been thinking of something like a Fairfield Barbershop. I like the looks of the sag feature. Demos sound good.

Other ideas?

I use a Vox Big Ben overdrive, its pretty sweet - used to belong to waitingforwinter

its got a big footprint and dies on me from time to time, but sounds very amp-like.

I haven't found anything to beat it, though for low gain sounds I tend to have the amp just on the edge of being crunchy and the OCD to take it the rest of the way.

OCD's are so useable it's ridiculous. I have had 2 and they sound good with any guitar/amp combination I threw at them and I hosted jam night so alot of different guitars/amps running through my board.

I just wish OCDs weren't so expensive :(

The Dano clone I had was pretty sweet if not kind of wiry.

I love my MXR GT-OD, sounds great with both single coils and humbuckers (my main guitars are a Tele and a Jagmaster).

They are a little pricey but it's not like they are a 2-300. Mor line 140 or so new. You can find them pretty regularly used for under $100 and why that is more than any number of other pedals, they are great kit. I don;t mind paying a bit more for good kit. Don't like paying more for a name.

This is a good pedal.
I also like the Catalinbread Formula No.5 and DLS.

The TODs are going cheap cheap on eBay at the moment too. Like £20, and I paid nearer £40 during the hype months.

I would recommend:

Marshall BB-2, GV-2
Boss OD-3
Fulltone OCD
Catalinbread DLS, Formula 5

Honeybee, Tube Comp [m13], Boost Comp [m13], OCD, SD-1, Dirty Little Secret all come to mind. I'm getting stupid use out of the Tube Comp model recently and using the turdscreamer model fallowing it for thicker parts. shocking

I'm currently liking my Coopersonic Dirtbox but i'd also recommend a Fredric Effects Harmonic or Utility Percolator - i've recently been regretting getting rid of mine.

I'm used to non boutique Overdrives other than a Fulltone and still really like the good old Tubescreamer, more so the TS7 on a 'Hot' setting. The Dano TOD and Drive are unbeatable in their price range though, in my opinion.

I like mine. I use it for what I call lower gain sounds however I turn the drive knob up 3/4 of the way so it may be quite a lot of gain for some. I think it is quite transparent sounding, particularly when picking, and cleans up when playing lightly - however smack your strings and you can get some nice dirt out of it. It has a very good tone control.

When I first started gigging I used a modded Ibanez TS9DX and I really liked it, not sure why some people hate them so.

I've tried all but the Formula 5 and stuck with the OD-3/RAT.

I would also like to add to that list a vexter Box Of Rock, Boss SD-1, Hotcake and for something a little different and "transparent" (this is my definition of the term anyways) an Xotic AC Plus used. It has an awesome little EQ section and the OD side doesn't sound too shabby either.

I love the Germanian 4 Big Muff. A lot of pedal for the money and lot's of knobs to play with.
