At 24 3/4", these are standard Gibson scale length... and well covered in this 5 page thread: http://shortscale.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39755

On topic though, that SG and Explorer look absolutely lovely - I adore the headstock designs on all of them. Good price point too, but this generally means that Gibson will just cheap out on manufacturing and QC and you'll get a bunch nasty fret jobs and sharp fret boards. I really hope that's not the case though, great designs for once. All FFS Gibson, VOLUTE PLZ.

True, but not quite "shortscale" in the traditional sense of shortscale.org, though, is it?

Agreed. Would be nice if they didn't, but it's not likely.

I was poking fun. If it really does mess up the aesthetic, I'm definitely sure the mods will be very happy to move it over the right sub forum.

I don't much care for the V or Explorer, really... but that's a general distaste I have for the designs, more than these particular versions of them.

The SG and Melody Maker look pretty decent though. I'd rock either one... ya know, if I dug humbuckers more :) Of the two the SG grabs my fancy more.

oh i'd TOTALLY rock the shit outta that one... but the volume knob AND THE INPUT are about as dumbly located as they ever could. geez.
imagine if your 90° angle cable fails and you have to connect a normal "long" one... fuck!

i want that SG so bad. in a different color. but still, thats the coolest thing gibson has done in a long time.

*edit*
however $540 is way too expensive, i hate gibsons satin finishes and the color choices are pretty lame.

Just buy a late 90's Gibson SG-X....they go for around $300-$350 in the used market......

has a proper route too, so no dumb jack or knob placement and room for a coil split switch...not to mention u can adjust the intonation as needed or if u drop tune

Me too - would prefer a p90 though,
Had a go on a '66 sg junior once - battered to shit but was easily one of the nicest things i've ever played.

but seriously, why would you have that guitar signed by b.b. king?

well, maybe that was the only guitar the guy happened to have with him when he went to see the KING.

whenever i go see legends of blues guitar, i always bring whatever guitar is iconically linked to them. ALWAYS.

last time i saw zz-top, i met them backstage, but had to tell them to 'wait right here,' ran out to my truck and had them sign this:

i still have it. i'll let you play it next time you come over.

Even Fender 24 3/4" guitars aren't considered shortscale.

why hasn't this been moved to the "all other guitars" area yet?

It already has.

They only waited for him cuz he promised them he'd wear a Pearl Necklace...

but in seriousness I knew that SG-X would give u bones..... They are ugly as Fuck stock but with a little shine there cool...The last one I saw here on STL CL went for $350...... Those SG-X's came in all crazy colors like that teal... there was even PANK!!!!
