1966 Fender Coronado II

Post by kapepepper »

hi all
new on the forum. found it by looking for more info on coronados. Alot of info here available....

well, found this guitar a few weeks back for a real good price. Looks like the guitar was cherished by the previous owner

guitar only shows some minor neck wear and some wear at the edge where the arm rests; for the rest it is perfect.
Action is sweet, neck is extremely fine and easy to play.
It is a 1966 with the 5000XX serial number

if anybody has an original victoria case, please let me know :) it came in a very similar sixties case but like to have the original victoria case

God it looks like its fresh out of the box, very cool. Possibly my favourite fender - maybe on par with a starcaster.

I don't know a whoel lot about coronados. But I sure like mine! The best is feeling it "breathe" when it's up loud. Mine is a goddamn shit show compared to yours!
Same year and color, but with a trem. A really weird trem which I swapped out for a bigsby.

I may have said it before but I'll say it again: Black mismatched headstocks are the best thing.

edit: That's some dark rosewood right there.

thanks everybody for the kind words and the warm welcome!

My idea of the coronado is that it is not a guitar that you look for, but once it crosses your path it is hard to resist; and thats what happened with me :) an have not regret it for a moment

And I am so happy collectors are ignoring it because you can buy for the price of a standard US stratocaster (and actually a lot less) a beautifull build top end guitar made by fender in their golden era. It is still funny to see how cheap they go, because "they dont sound like an ES 335" or "compared with an es 335 yada yada yada"
