I didn't even know they existed. I saw a case advertised as being a coronado case before and the outside looks like this so I'm guessing that's what it was. Looked crap inside though.
This is a rare beautiful old beast, it's a 1972 Fender Coronado 'serviceman' model, these were made in Indonesia for the American troops fighting in the Vietnam war, this one in particular is a very rare model, you see other models crop up from time to time, especially Jazzmasters but this is the only Coronado I have ever come across, it's had a couple of upgrades, the tuners are new, the old ones were rubbish and the bridge has been swapped for a modern roller model which works far better with the trem. The frets are excellent, the action is nice, not to high or to low, the neck looks straight and as already mentioned, the new tuners work great, it sounds very nice and all the electrics work perfectly. I love the colour of this guitar, it's does have a few small marks and scratches but hey, it's 39 years old, overall it's a beauty and a fine collectors piece but perfectly playable at the same time, it comes with it's original case.

I've seen a couple of these around here, actually. Was about to get a LPB Corondao for 500 bucks and it turned out to be one of these.

Seller is tripping balls if he thinks it's worth half that much.

You saying that makes me think I probably have seen these before and just forgot all about them.

I'd guess at being worth about £150 for how well I would think it would play, plus maybe £70 or so of collector/rarity value. £220 sounds much more realistic than £500. Though to be honest I've no idea how much it's worth.

while looking to buy one I found out that there were loads of these doing the rounds and the reason I gave up my search was because anything in the 70s that was legit was antiga finish. Some poor soul will buy it though.
