Congrats on the new Tele. Is that a Blacktop?

Looks it.

I can't fathom trading P-90s for Blacktop humbuckers, but the Blacktops seem to be nice enough guitars... looks better than the black on black on black of the Squire at least.

That squier didn't last you very long, but the new tele looks pretty swish.

Decided I didn’t like the custom ii. I didn’t like the neck I played it at a gig and it just didn’t feel right, felt a bit dead for want of a better description and The P90 pickups didn’t do it for me either I’ve reached the conclusion I’m not that keen on P90’s I put a set (dream 90 / mean 90) in my Riviera a while back and ended up back with the original neck humbucker and a 59 in the bridge. The only thing I’m not sure about on the blacktop is the reversed control plate, so it might be getting flipped around kinda sharpish...

Check the intonation when you get it. I had a nightmare with a customers... it was way out & afterwards some of the saddles were right back and was still not quite right.

In my head I was wondering if Fender had positioned the whole bridge correctly ? Also, I seem to remember the tone pot was acting up a little too on that one.

They're nice though, congrats !! The red is growing on me all the time !!!!

Word of warning as an ex-blacktop owner. The fit and finish is NOT spot on. I've had better squires out of the box. My skunk stripe wasn't even set completely in.

I have a habit of liking guitars that take a bit of a slating on t’internet... Highway 1 Tele, Gibson Melody maker and now this. Too each their own as the saying goes.

I had a sweat on with the Esquire i built. The saddles are quite a way back but it intonated in the end. Of course, if you measure from the inside of the nut to the saddle centre's it should be 25.5", if that is'nt possible, Fender screwed up.
Are these string thru or top loader bridges?
A top loader would be easy to move back a little to solve the problem.

Very nice. I've got no experience with Blacktops, but think they look pretty awesome, and are bound to be brilliant guitars once set up.

Aye, the saddle for the E + A strings on my highway 1 is about as far back as it can go...

Yeah, that's my opinion. Even PGS Andy didn't make the Blacktop Tele sound appealing to me (pickup wise, I love a lot of the other features).

I played one of these through a Laney vc-15 (which is the amp I currently rock) in guitar guitar in Glasgow and liked the pickups. I like humbuckers to sound a bit dark over all however you could still dial in plenty of chime if needed, and sounded suitably different to my highway 1 which handles my need for teh ice pick...
