Jagmaster?

Post by Doug »

My buddy's switching from acoustic to electric. He wants a guitar with tremolo for under $300.

I've liked the two Jagmasters I played in shops. Who with some substantial Jagmaster experience can offer pros & cons for my buddy to consider?

Pro: Vistas are awesome.
Con: New ones are crap.

I would not go a short scale... If he is used to playing an acoustic he would be more comfortable with a normal length neck as most acoustics are 25.5" scale

As much as I hate to say it a MIM Strat fits the bill and is $300 all day long used..

Honestly, if thrift is an issue, you simply cannot do better than a classic vibe strat.
Sure, it'll set your buddy back an extra $50-60 bucks in comparison to the Jagmaster BUT it's pretty much 100% more guitar in every respect.

They come in cooler colours, as SGjarrod mentioned, your buddy might feel more at home on a full size neck and lokee there, same trem system as the Jagmaster!

If he really has his heart set on sunburst, there's a great 2 tone and a three tone 50's classic vibe strat and I think there's a 60's one in that finish, also...

Sigh... If they only made the Ice Blue Metallic with the rosewood neck, I'd probably have to own one.

park me here. the wheat maple with the cream pickup covers is just too much.

srsly though, tell him not to get a new jagmaster. if he needs something with a humbucker, get a strat with a humbucker. two shitty hums will be a less than impressive experience.

Yeah, no. I'm not dying for an IBM rosewood strat, just saying that if Squier happened to make it super easy for me to get one, I might just have to.

Sorry for derailing, OP. Hope you found the answers you were looking for in that thread I posted, up there.

I had the white one and I loved it. The pickups weren't great, but it played better than any of my MIM strats.
