fuck's sake, does the god of guitar hate me recently. now a couple of my guitar leads have died, namely my bullet cable and my old faithful Klotz TM stevens.
what do peeps recommend for replacements. might as well get a couple so i've got spares. can't run my little pedalboard at the mo now.

Take a look at ebay and see if you can get something with quality jacks and cable. Van Damme cable and Neutrik jacks will do the trick but there are a few brands like those worth looking at.

Can you not repair your Klotz cable? Do you know if it's broken at either end? You might be able to cut 10cm fro the end of the cable, re-solder the jack and have a slightly shorter but fully functional cable again. At the worst you should definitely keep the jack plugs.

the klotz had come away at one jack end. i resoldered it and whilst it works, there's a lot of noise when you handle the cable.

I've had a Dimarzio cable that's lasted about 15 years.

Just bought a Fulltone cable too which seems alright.

I've also got a Elixir cable also, but find it's a bit too bright sounding. Sounds wanky but it's true.

So yeah, A Dimarzio would be your best bet from my stand point.

i like cordial cables, i've both the top performance with silent neutric jacks and the proline with neutric jacks. I really like them but the extra I paid for the top performance was worth it.

I use a cleartone cable mainly and haven't had a problem with it so far, its a couple of years old and apart from some light wear to the silent jack its fine. The cable is a bit weedy though.

If I had more money I'd plump for elixir cables, otherwise Planet Waves or Cleartones. Piranha Cables are ok but I've had the solder come away on the ground on a few of them - its a really easy fix though.

Spot on timing, young Robert: you want this cove on eBay - makes you up the cables you want for about tuppence more than you could buy the components for: I bought ten patch cables and a coily cable from him the other week, and the service was great (although he clearly smokes like a chimney - the jiffy stank when I first opened it).

i wish my old piranha cable still worked i had that from when i started playing and it was great for about 12 years.

Yeah that is the selling point... I loved it to begin with, but reverting back to an old cable was just more pleasant sounding to me. Darker & more gritty mids.

How long is it?

Straight to straight... think it's 10ft / 3m but can check.

i always get confused with lead lengths. some are in ft and some are in m.

i think i'd need an 18ft for guitar to board and a 20ft for board to amp.

I like my cables long at least 20 ft. lets me walk around easily. Although I've been using a 15 ft. cable for awhile, which is ok when going to my pedal board, is rather annoying when plugged straight into an amp.

i don't like it too long from the guitar to board. i tend to stay routed to the spot when i play, though i've been jumping like a loon when we do parklife at practice. our new bassist is very lively.

I have an old 10 or 15 ft peavey cable that I've had for the past 8 years or so, that thing does not break! It's always been my at home cable since I bought it. As far as the cables in my rig, that I gig with, for the past couple years I've used monster cables. I have a 10 foot that runs from my sansamp to my bass amp, and a 20 foot that runs from my bass to my sansamp. I seem to have to replace them every year, but they have a lifetime warranty, so when one of them breaks I just take them back to guitar center, any guitar center, and trade them for new ones no questions asked. It's really good to have that, because I've been out on the road for shows and had my cables crap out. I was in Maryland, and had my cables crap out at a show, and I had to borrow a cable from another band to get through the gig. The next day we stopped at a guitar center in New Jersey and I swapped the cables out for brand new ones, with no problem. Because of that I haven't bought any other cables.

I'm using a Monster cable for my guitar>board and their Monster keyboard cable [slightly less highs and its a thicker cable] for board to amp
lifetime warranty, take them to a guitar center and they will hand you a brand new one

I like the lava cable stuff. Mainly use the Canare cables. They will fix cables for free if they short out.

I've used 2 x Planet Waves cables for ages and 1 Whirlwind cable for even longer. Great sound and no problems with either. They also have supposed lifetime warranties but i've never needed to use, although I have had cheaper Planet Waves cables before that broke and they replaced them no questions asked.

Yeah, I've had a Piranha cable for years that's been around the world and I haven't had to fix once.
