Les Paul double cut bass. This looks awesome! Plus it's pelham blue which adds to the awesomeness! This is the first gibson bass I would consider thinking about purchasing, besides maybe a non-reverse thunderbird bass.

Looks like that open pore mahogany finish they do, which can be hit or miss in person. Otherwise looks nice but probably still isn't as balanced as a fender or just about any other bass.

I'm thinking that the body on this bass would be thicker and bigger than a normal sg bass body so it wouldn't have the same balance issues that SG basses have. I've still never really been a fan of the sound of most Gibson basses though so I'm not sure how good this one will sound.

This reminds me a bit of the EB-1 or EB-2 I think? If I recall correctly, it was basically just this in mahogany brown.
These modern SG bass pickups have output for days, but they don't seem to have definition, or at least, when I've played the SG bass.
Also the price is just ridiculous for a slab of mahogany and a coat of nitro.

I haven't had the chance to play a newer modern SG bass to know if the pickups have gotten any better. But every vintage SG bass I've played has sounded like pure mud.

Really Gibson? Almost 2 grand for a short scale? Why not make a real bass that's worth the money?
hahaha

That's actually really nice, looks like something Bill Wyman would have played.

Agreed, though I reckon we should be already used to the Pelham Premium and typical Gibson marketing steering the ship.

$2k for a re-shaped short scale EB-3???
Are you fucking kidding me?
Gibson is so ignorant to bassists, it's almost comical at this point. They're over priced, uncomfortable pieces of shit, and, for the past decade (and some change) they just re-hash the same 2 or 3 models... EB(which Gibson calls the SG now), Tbird and LP... oh and the inferior re-issues of the Grabber and Ripper, when you can find MUCH better sounding originals for half their price.
Anything actually interesting they've done they've trashed... RD, RD Artist, Victory, Victory Artist, Grabber, Ripper, G3, Gibson IV, Gibson V....
